The OP has theoretical validity. Say 25% of R voters actually like Trump and 75% would never vote for him. With 10 candidates running, the 75% is greatly divided so that none of them gets anywhere near Trump's hard-core of 25%. But as the others drop out, the likelihood is that one of them will eventually exceed Trump's 25% - maybe when it gets down to 3 or 4 total candidates.

If the New Hampshire voters were faced with Trump, Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich (all others excluded), it would have been much more competitive. If it were Trump, Rubio, and Kasich... three-way tie.

But Trump, like any good businessman, has a plan that will evolve as the primaries go forward. Don't count him out. Remember, his negatives won't be an issue in the General Election regardless of whether he's running against Sanders, HRC, or even Joe Biden. Any one of them has negatives that are at least as troubling. I'd say it's 50/50 that he will be our next President.
