Resident Donald Trump has called for a massive buildup of the country’s border protection agencies, but according to the Guardian, the border patrol is having trouble meeting its current staffing needs, let alone hiring and training the vastly expanded force called for by Trump.

At a national border security expo in San Antonio, TX this week, Border Patrol Chief Ronald Vitiello said that his agency is losing employees faster than he can replace them.

“If you know people who are enthusiastic about border security please send them to Customs and Border Protection (CBP),” Vitiello said. “We’re already behind. We’re not hiring fast enough to keep up with the attrition.”

The Border Patrol’s head of strategic planning and analysis, Benjamin Huffman, joked to an audience at one expo event that everyone present should submit the names of five potential recruits before leaving.

This has been an ongoing problem for them for a long time.
Really, is that why Obama was constantly bashed for not doing his job, when it came to border patrol?
I really don't know, but a two second Google produced several articles by various sources dating a year ago and longer.
It is a just another example of Fake news....taking something that is true, and trying to spin it to meet a narrative. But if one takes a half second to examine the claim...easy to disprove.

More like constantly bashed for being a participant in "Fast and Furious" (no, not the movie) along with Eric Holder.
Is that the exact same thing as the Bush program called wide receiver, idiot?

Same program, Einstein
A program similar to Fast and Furious did go forward under the Bush administration in 2006 and 2007. That program, called Operation Wide Receiver, also attempted to track suspicious weapons. Allowing gun sales to go forward even when the ATF had probable cause to believe the sales were unlawful has come to be known as "gun walking."

The two operations -- Fast and Furious and Wide Receiver -- had some similarities, and both were run out of the ATF’s Phoenix Field Division. The inspector general explored both programs in depth and found similar problems.

"The risk to public safety was immediately evident in both investigations," the inspector general’s report states.

The fake news was that it was all Obama's fault.

In fact, the Border Patrol has hemorrhaged personnel for a long, long time.

They leave faster than they can be hired. In fact it takes about 9 months to hire each employee. Must be a wonderful job.

Similar but different.

Dickheads worry about a former president and a program from 6 years ago, instead of the massive incompetence of this current administration

Based on what I'm reading here, whoever is now in charge of the Border Control and ICE has inherited an administration mess with too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

  • On top of that, CBP and ICE have consistently been ranked as some of the worst places to work in the federal government, in terms of employee morale.
  • “We enthusiastically support the additional officers identified in President Trump’s executive order on interior enforcement. However, we have little faith in the ability of ICE leadership to most effectively implement the additional staff,” Chris Crane, president of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, told lawmakers. “As with DHS in general, ICE is suffering from a toxic and failed management culture [and] an absolute absence of leadership.”
  • Judd told lawmakers that CBP has suffered from “kingdom-building” within the agency’s bureaucracy, wherein management expands the chain of command to improve their own General Schedule pay scale.
  • "‘Screw up and move up’ is the general term used by many ICE employees to describe their supervision. Most employees have no trust in DHS and ICE internal affairs offices to effectively carry out investigations against ICE supervisors.”

The problem is that couch warriors rush down there to join in on what they hope to be a gun nut's wet dream. They get to wear cammo, and shoot at Mexicans. When they get there, they realize that it's hot, they actually have to get off the couch, and they don't get to shoot nearly as many Mexicans as they had hoped. Disappointed, they quit and go back home to resume complaining about Mexicans on the internet.

You do get that Obama and Bush have the same father right? Soros is their Daddy. There is a reason why the 2 acted in the same manner. They both had the UN's best interests at heart. And a lack of concern for our Constitution. They both sucked.

That isn't what he said. They have trouble hiring due to failing to pass a polygraph test.
