These people are politicians, not USMB posters what they have at stake is greater than your next post.

They do have a lot of favors to pay back indeed. Average citizens aren't typically being leveraged with blackmail or withholding of campaign funds, so politicians tend to be more malleable in their ethics.

The end result is that few politicians have genuine principles, regardless of party affiliation.

Agreed. The only realistic way out is to break up into multiple countries, but that's unlikely to happen. There currently seems to be more of a push for a one world government instead.

It's not unthinkable that they could have arrived at that decision without Mitch's influence, but given Unes's history with Dole, it's unlikely.
