The sad thing is, we all realize it is unwinnable but for some reason we insist on wasting our time and resources there.

A confidential trove of government documents obtained by The Washington Post reveals that senior U.S. officials failed to tell the truth about the war in Afghanistan throughout the 18-year campaign, making rosy pronouncements they knew to be false and hiding unmistakable evidence the war had become unwinnable.

And for some god forsaken reason we are still there, even though one of Trump's campaign promises was to remove our troops from there

I don't think we've fixed anything there ... as soon as we pull out, terrorists will set in motion the plan to take down One World Trade Center ...

The powers that be won't let him. they won't let a president Gabbard or any other anti-interventionist politician either. Maybe if "the american people" would rise up in anger DC might finally listen but we're all too busy fighting one another over transgender pronouns and the rights of illegal immigrants to vote.

When Phrump says something, expect the opposite.
Do you know how Trump drained the swamp? He caught them and locked them away in his Administration and think tank.

Not that it in any way excuses Trump but Obama promised the same.

The US has a long history of lying like this.

President Wilson blamed the sinking of the Lusitania on the Germans because it had civilians on it, but recent dives show it was loaded for bare with war supplies for the UK, making it a viable war time target. He used this to get the US into war with Germany.

There is also much controversy over FDR and Pearl Harbor. Did FDR provoke the attack and did he know about it considering the Japanese code had already been broken and was used 6 months later for a victory at Midway.

LBJ created a fictitious attack on the US navy to sell the Vietnam war, etc.

So as we see, this is common practice historically.

It's just nice to have a President not start a war for a change.

I know, let's turn our health care over to them. What could poooossibly go wrong?
