U.S. Weighs Direct Military Action Against ISIS in Syria

should have been on this months ago

instead of funding them

When did the US fund ISIS?

Obama et al were desperately trying to overthrow Assad with the help of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, etc. They trained and armed troops against the objections of many who were violently opposed to introducing more violence into that region. Where are these troops now and whose side are they fighting on ?
The most powerful army in the region that can take on ISIS is Iraq yet America is training and funding some obscure troops to weaken Assad.
How long do you think before we get into bed with Assad?
Foreign Secretary rejects Lord Dannatt s call for talks with Syrian dictator Assad Mail Online

Never--The neo cons are determined that Syrian regime change occurs.

Israel considers the Assad regime evil. We will never fully support them.

It would have been years before ISIS considered the US a target for a real attack. Now that has probably become a key objective. Normally they just kill each other until an outside force enters.

Oh really----and how sure are you that every dollar we spent has stayed with the so called rebels. ? Do you understand how many have decided to fight with ISIS ?

No, like the Iraqi Army, in fact most armies, when retreating, leave munitions behind; of course some of the FSA may have become ISIS, but it is doubtful the Alawites, Druze, Christians, Yezidi, Turks, et. al, could unite beyond ISIS, to phrase gently. Syria is diverse, both ethnically and religiously.

Which in my personal opinion is why we shouldn't be arming anyone but our own troops.

Assad is both weak, and brutal; the Kurds can be trusted. Assad can not be trusted to lead a nation in splinters agains ISIS. He turned a blind eye, or even assisted, crimes against humanity. The true rebels have and had no ties to ISIS, ISIS has taken advatage of the divisions he allowed to develop. Assad is on thin ice with or without US invoolvement. If the US decides ISIS can bit hit in Syria, scrawny blue eyes would be well advised to go to Europe on one his, his wife's well known shopping, dining, and entertainment sprees.

Russia is his friend. He's not as weak as you think.

I meant personally, he could not control the fraying nation before ISIS, as for Russia, Putin has no qualms about supporting torture; Putin suppresses dissent with violence also.

How many countries were involved in trying to remove him from power ?

Assad? The various groups are within Syria, Syria is diverse in both culture and religion. If you mean Putin, he has been invading, and/or formenting conflict in other nations for years; Georgia among them.

Here is a different tact. Perhaps the west should unite and declare Islam a religious based hate group and treat it like the members of any other fascist extremist sects. It's worth a try.
