Over $64,000 is an obnoxious salary for a teacher. They generate no revenue, they work less than 8 hour days, and they work less than 8 months per year.

Furthermore, liberals always scream about sacrifice and the good of the whole. Well, you have a bloated $64,000 salary already - and you're not willing to "sacrifice" for the good of society and make sure our kids are well educated?

I hope this city provides one final offer to the teachers: cut your salaries in half - take it or leave it. Otherwise, we continue indefinitely with substitute teachers.

The hypocrisy of the liberal is deplorable. They care about nothing and no one except their greedy selves, but they scream "it's all about the good for all" because that's the easiest way they know to line their own greedy pockets.

Hedge fund managers make $37,000/HR, when are you going to bitch about them?

Seems to have been prompted by envy.

A good teacher is worth at least $75k, even with the shortened work-year. Anyone who knows a good teacher knows that their required work week is much, much longer than the hours actually spent in front of students.

In recent years, the competition for teaching jobs has become rather intense, and the good school districts can be very selective. This bodes well for the future, however, the entrenched bureaucracy is made up of 60's liberals on figurative steroids, which explains some of the insane nonsense rules that we all have to deal with.

If only we could get rid of the bad teachers...

$64,000 for the services a teacher provides is too much for Ohio.

But, $63,000 for a member of the Ohio Highway Patrol is fine. $60,000 for a member of the General Assembly, $128,000 for the Governor, $80 million for Joe Thomas, a tackle with the Cleveland Browns, $109,000 for the Ohio Secretary of State...those are OK too...right?

Are they paid with tax payer money?

NO?

Then STFU!

What is a bad teacher worth?

What is an average teacher worth?

I bet there are strippers in Ohio that make more than that

Yeah...and it's probably Republican politicians who provide most of their income. :D

As an ex-teacher, I can assure you that 64K is not nearly enough to walk into a room with those little monsters every day. You have to be crazy to put up with what they have to put up with. The public school system is a travesty, a failed experiement that should be ended today.

A bad teacher is worth less than zero, and can do more harm than good.

If the parents and student are doing their jobs, a teacher doesn't have to be great. Give ANY teacher a classroom filled with willing and enthusiastic students, and she will rise to the occasion.

In my own opinion, a teacher's salary scale should max out at about $100k - for the best 5% of teachers with at least 15 years experience. Typical should be $50-60k. Certainly, the school districts would have no problem finding teachers with that structure.

See what I mean? Teaching is the only profession in the world in which people demand mediocrity. It's the only profession whose practitioners are better liked when they DON'T do their jobs.

In my opinion, anyone in the teaching profession with ability gets the hell out of teaching as fast as they can.

Why would anyone with a brain put up with bullshit like that?

think about WHY the right hates education in this country??

they dont want the people educated.

No person here, at least those who have read his postings, should in any way be surprised to learn that Rottweiler doesn't believe that an education is of any value to society.

The taxpayers don't pay the salaries of hedge fund managers. You're free not to pay them a cent.
