Not that this is new news to anyone, but, I was embarrassed about it the other day....

Hubby and I were having a late night snack at Denny's and this woman next to us wanted the "Pumpkin Pancakes" ...... the very sweet/polite waiter (who was our waiter also, and one of the best we have had) - told her they ran out.

She about had a fit. Told him that was the only reason the came there and went on and on about it. He even went back to double check for her (knowing they were out) and told her he was sorry etc. yet she continued to complain....

I mean really? A fit over Pumpkin Pancakes? It's a very sad statement about our country.....

Would you throw a fit over not getting your pancakes?

If not then why do you measure the rest of us by the actions of this one person?

Let's just say this.... we have places open 24 hours where you can get warm (airports, hotels, hospitals, casinos, restaurants) - drinking fountains with clean water, trash cans filled with good food. A homeless person could eat like a king compared to many nations.

Oh yes! Our poor people are fucking spoiled brats. Thanks Obama!

Seen it a million times, they are angry and bitter with little else going on but to belittle people around them to feel better about themselves, since improving themselves is off the table. I probably would have used my free speech too and told her I didn't come to Denny's to hear her juvenile crap.

Mostly I felt bad for the waiter. He was very sweet and accommodating.
He gave us a free Hot Fudge Sundae too

Why did you get a "free" hot fudge sundae? Why is it ok for you to mooch but a person gets upset because they don't have what is advertised and that condemns all Americans? What the hell.

It just hit me - people would love to have one bit of any kind of food, yet, a fit over pumpkin pancakes.
We are all guilty of putting too much importance on our material possessions.

nope, I'm saying that our homeless have it better than a lot of people in other nations....
there are many people that are "spoiled" meaning, they don't appreciate what they have and feel things are "owed" to them - because others have them. There is a mentality in much of the US that is unappreciative.

I used to work as a bartender and sometimes worked in places that served food. I have come to the conclusion that it isn't really about the pancakes. It's about screaming and yelling at someone that is in a position that cannot scream back.

I tended bar/served all throughout college and what you say is true. Lame people need a punching bag sometimes so they can feel important about their own shortcomings.

What in our nature makes us forget the majority of people who are polite and remember those who act like idiots?
