Can ANYONE inform me how those restrictions would have prevented the recent shooting?

So there are only 2 choices, either get rid of all firearms or let everyone have whatever they can get? I like to think there is middle ground somewhere.

Big gulps? Tried to force me to buy health care, ban plastic bags that I use to pick up dog poo with in some places, plastic straws? Extra tax on snicker bars in Chicago...trying to say cheese wiz is not one of the four food groups, violating women's 14th amendment right to privacy in bathrooms...the list goes on and on.
