LAS VEGAS (CBS Las Vegas) — A Las Vegas business owner with 114 employees fired 22 workers today, apparently as a direct result of President Obama’s re-election.

“David” (he asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons) told Host Kevin Wall on 100.5 KXNT that “elections have consequences” and that “at the end of the day, I need to survive.”

“I’ve done my share of educating my employees. I never tell them which way to vote. I believe in the free system we have, I believe in the right to choose who they want to be president, but I did explain as a business owner that I have always put my employees first. I always made sure that when I went without a paycheck that made sure they were paid. And I explained that I always put them first and unfortunately I’m at a point where I’m being forced to have to worry about me and my family now and a business that I built from just me to 114 employees.

I am middle class and on a tight budget. I have two kids in college and paying rent for them. Prices are going up and if anything rises too much, I don't know what I can cut to keep going. Fuck Obama and his socialist ways. The health care reform has so little to do with health care and everything to do with government transferring power to them and redistributing money. Look at the price tag for Obamacare and realize that the same number of people will still be uninsured. So, it didn't help everyone, costs are going up, not down and our insurance premiums will go through the roof. Government will have real time access to all our bank accounts. There are so many new taxes in the bill, it makes your head spin. Sell your house and pay thousands to government. It's insanity and it's just a power grab disguised as health care reform.

Yeah, I talked to a guy earlier today who said that they were going to have to start eliminating positions, so from his particular office that'll only be one person who has to go. Guess who's getting the old heave-ho? And not because this individual voted for Obama and yapped about it incessantly during the whole election season, but rather because the qualifications cited at the time of hire didn't match up with actual skill and ability. No surprise there. Libs have no problem stretching the truth and an unfocused vision of reality.

Yup. They've already been hunkered down for a long time now. And now it's time to figure out how to survive another four years of government lunacy. I heard there's talk about kicking the can down the road for another year in order to avoid the fiscal cliff, so that's another year right there of uncertainty.

In a quick skim of the thread, seems like libs are unable to wrap their minds around the fact that it's not about THEM. It's about business. The government hands you crap regulations, you comply if it makes business sense, you skirt 'em if it doesn't. “The president told the senators that he still believes the best way for us to transition to a clean energy economy is with a bill that makes clean energy the profitable kind of energy for America’s businesses by putting a price on pollution – because when companies pollute, they should be responsible for the costs to the environment and their contribution to climate change,” according to a White House readout of the closed-door session with about 20 senators.

“Not all of the senators agreed with this approach,” the statement added, “and the president welcomed other approaches and ideas.”


Democratic senators who attended the meeting said afterward that Obama argued passionately for pricing carbon emissions. But they also acknowledged Republican resistance, and are trying to find a compromise that can win enough votes to pass. One Senate leader on the issue, John Kerry (D) of Massachusetts, said he and Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I) of Connecticut are ready to “scale back the reach of our legislation” to gain more support.

Last year, the House passed energy and climate-change legislation, but its ambitious “cap and trade” system for limiting carbon emissions is a nonstarter in the Senate.

Still, Senator Lieberman, speaking from the White House driveway after Tuesday’s meeting, sounded an encouraging note on the prospect for compromise with Republicans.

“A very important thing that happened around the table is that some of our colleagues who up until this time had been at least publicly reluctant about the polluter pays, putting a price on carbon pollution, said that they’d be willing to discuss limited terms of doing that in this bill. And to me that’s a breakthrough,” Lieberman said, according to ABC News.
