Inflation in Venezuela’s crisis-wracked economy has become so bad that the country’s official currency, the Bolívar, is now worth less than the fake gold used in Azeroth, the setting of the popular online role-playing game “World of Warcraft.”

Dolar Today, a website that tracks the black market rate of the Venezuelan currency, puts the exchange rate at about 10,987 Bolívars per dollar as of Friday morning. In comparison, the current gold price of a “World of Warcraft” token is about 7,288 gold pieces per dollar.

On a lighter note....

The Omar Visquel card caught my attention. I watched that boy for many years and "one of the best" is an insult. He was incredible. It was worth the price of admission to watch him during inner inning warmups. The first baseman would toss a grounder at him he'd flip it up with his foot catch it behind his back and rifle a throw to first that would beat anyone.. The best shortstop ever, period. Lifetime .272 average over a 24 year career, yes 24 years. And as a Cleveland fan what we loved most about him was that he always had a smile on his face.

I lived in Venezuela as a child, and back then the Bolivar was made of silver and it was as big as an American silver dollar. My mother could buy enough shrimp to fill the kitchen sink with just one and get change back.
