Unfortunately it's now taking a grip on the rural areas. Places where medical help is the hardest to find. They have the least amount of doctors, hospitals and all that's needed to combat this disease. Which means people will not be able to get the medical help they need. Plus they have very limited equipment and PPE.

This isn't good.

The medical infrastructure is scarce in rural America. Generally clinics instead of hospitals, overburdened doctors, lack of nurses, lack of supplies.

Maybe medical personnel from cities that are trending downward can fill the void

Most likely there is a town or city within driving distance they can go to for medical treatment. ...

Depends on what you consider driving distance. And, one of the results of this virus is that hospitals are now losing money and having to furlough their workers because people aren't getting surgeries, as they are scared of catching the virus while in the hospital.

Matter of fact, my next door neighbor works at BSA hospital here in Amarillo, and he's said that it looks like a ghost town in the hospital because there are so few workers.

There is plenty of medical providers in smaller cities. If need be, I'm sure that they will be able to send in hospital ships or whatever. Although my guess is that this is just a scare tactic by liberals afraid the the pestilence is NOT coming to the rural areas at all. Wyoming County PA has only 7 deaths in the whole county, and Lycoming just 3.

Hardly at Black Death levels at all

"Unfortunately" ?
Somehow you guys are always first to post these stories, so something tells me you really don't feel that way.

She's one of the biggest promoters of the scamdemic. And yeah, it does seem like they rub their hands in glee as the inflated fraudulent death count grows.

About one for every 5-6 counties here.

No where near enough if it really takes off.

About 3 or 4 weeks ago, Amarillo saw their first cases. Now? Cases are continuing to climb (another 116 today in my county alone), and it appears that it's gonna keep climbing for awhile more.

And yeah, there are lots of people in my town who either don't wear a mask, or they don't wear it the right way. Sorry, but if you wear it with your nose poking out of the top, it's not gonna do you any good.

Can't send a hospital ship to Amarillo, there's no ocean around here. And, the cases here in the TX panhandle are continuing to rapidly rise, partially because of the meat packing plants we have around here. And, down in Canyon (15 miles away), they now have a rest home that has had an outbreak.

Here's a link to what the panhandle is currently going through, and it's not really good. These are the current cases as of today, 15 May 2020.

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Public Health Department is reporting 734 new COVID-19 cases in the Amarillo area.

According to APH, Potter County has 618 new cases, bringing its total to 2,080. APH said Randall County has 116 new cases, bringing its total to 593.

40 new recoveries were reported, 37 in Potter County and three in Randall County.

The slower spread in rural areas may become its own problem: Those counties tend to have smaller health care systems that could become more easily overwhelmed if they are hit with a crush of cases.

As more and more states take their first ginger steps toward reopening businesses, some scientists are worried that the increasingly political lens through which people view the coronavirus will discourage those most at risk of suffering the worst consequences from taking the steps they need to protect themselves.

Covid "cases" aren't an important statistic. Covid hospitalizations and deaths are.

The reason for the shortage of medical help in rural areas is unregulated or improperly regulated capitalism.

It's not profitable to be in rural areas.

It's the same reason why high speed Internet isn't available in the rural areas or what's available isn't very good.

It's the same reason why the rural areas have to use satellites instead of cable.

The reason why rural areas don't have medical staff is that they come out of school with such high burden of debt from student loans they can't afford to go to work in the rural areas. They can't support themselves on the very low wages plus the high payments of the student loan.

Which it all comes back to unregulated or improperly regulated capitalism.

Capitalism will destroy itself if it's not properly regulated.

When your rural county has 1 Wuhan Coronavirus case and after a few months it goes to 2 cases......

BREAKING NEWS!!
Coronavirus cases double in rural county!!!

We've even got Life Flight. Less than half of Maine's critical care beds are occupied at present, most not with Covid cases. Most of the state is rural, so that means we've got capacity.

Dana is at it again spreading doom and gloom. It’s actually excellent news as it gets us closer to herd immunity. Keep spreading.

Maine is a subsidiary of MA. :)

Actually, young doctors right out of training DO come here for a few years, because as an underserved area, if they work here for so many years, they get part of their student loans forgiven. Then they're gone. Because you're right, it is not at all profitable to run a private practice in a rural area. Just get to know a doc, they know you, and they're out the door.

I believe this shit like i believe Joe the groper Biden has a chance to win. The problem with the liberals (is that they have an IQ of less than 70) think that they can scare the rest of US with their bullshit pandemic that has killed with all the related deaths up to 85,000 since Jan 15th(not sure all those related deaths are really related, but if i have to believe that stat, then they MUST believe this stat)...

QuickStats: Average Daily Number of Deaths, by Month — United States,
In 2017, an average of 7,708 deaths occurred each day. January, February, and December were the months with the highest average daily number of deaths (8,478, 8,351, and 8,344, respectively). June, July, and August were the months with the lowest average daily number of deaths (7,298, 7,157, and 7,158, respectively).
120 days since Jan 15th

7,708 times 120 is 924,960 During the brown turd Oblummer's admin, how many of those 924,960 were drug related that was coming across the border, and why werent the liberal howling how dangerous it was in the rural areas? Liberal, the stupidest people in the fucking Universe.
