Wal-Mart introduces new dress code, employees must buy own clothes

When I worked for Target back in 19 whatever...we had to buy 100% of our own clothes. Khaki pants and red collared Polo shirts were mandatory.

This hatred of Wal Mart for doing exactly what their competitors have done (or would do) is irrational.

Target didn't give you a uniform allowance?

No. The shirts with Bullseye were sold for something like 6 bucks though... Everything else was purchased regular retail.

There are plenty of poor "heartless bastards" as well.

Being poor or not as well off does not give one license to chastise the rich. Could Wal*Mart buy clothing for all of it's employees? Sure. Should it? No.

Again, Target did the same thing back in the 1990's. This is absolutely nothing new.

Should it....yes.

Nonsense. You buy clothes for Sally who is a size 14 or whatever and she quits....then what? You're out that investment plus the costs of time involved in ordering and managing this project.

Khakis and a button-up shirt are common requirements in a business casual environment, and don't cost much. Also, buying clothes of one color costs no more than buying them in another color.

Many jobs require you to provide your own steel toe boots, and those can be pretty expensive.

It seems like Walmart is being singled out, while thousands of businesses have required the same thing for a long time.

But the other businesses don't have the largest working class poor. Walmart bosses are rolling in tens of billions of dollars.

So if Target were larger...Wal-Mart would be off the hook? Your position is silly dude.

What benefit did they lose?

A new dress code is the best the Unions can come up with to attack Walmart - what pathetic fucks the Communists are.

OHHHH NOZZZZZZ - employees have to have navy blue or khaki pants...

What a bunch of fucktards the leftists are.

Walmart was built on taxpayer funds.

Walmart employees are the largest employed welfare recipients of any single company in the US.

You don't have a problem with that?

I have worked at many jobs that required you to buy your own business casual clothes. This is a non-issue.

Was it a specific style and color pant, and a specific color and style shirt? If it wasn't, your post is moot.

When I drove buses, mine were: white dress shirt, black dress pants, black dress shoes (I cheated & wore polished jump boots), and a tie. For certain charters, I had to wear a suit (black pants, jacket could be black or gray). In the REAL WORLD, most people DO buy their own work clothes!

Have you ever actually WORKED for a living?

But you admit this is pretty tacky of them at this time to do?

No. They are playing by the rules. If it were so onerous and predatory nobody would work or shop there.

You realize that is simply a function of them having so many employees and in noway reflects that they have any higher of a percentage of employees on welfare than any other company, don't you?

Nonsense. You buy clothes for Sally who is a size 14 or whatever and she quits....then what? You're out that investment plus the costs of time involved in ordering and managing this project.

What investment? WalMart bought the clothes from themselves. Booked the profit, deducted the expense, deducted a loss when the employee quit.

Remember, WalMart isn't doing this because they can't afford it, they're doing it because they can get away with it, and laughing at YOU all the way to the bank.

So Wal Mart's suppliers just give them merchandise now? That's mighty white of them.

I already knew what the responses would be here. Dont worry tho they can just apply for an increase in their welfare to cover the loss...then republicans can complain about that instead.

Oh not about Walmart...dont be silly...Complain about the people who apply for welfare because of Walmarts shit wages.

I think the Waltons want...no need to open another art gallery anyway.

So you show up to work naked on the first day? And when they ask you say hey you didn't buy me anything to wear.

Will it never stop with these guys?

Employees at Walmart are about to be forced to dress a little nicer at their own expense.

The world's largest retailer has unveiled a new dress code for its massive workforce, Business Insider reports. Starting Sept. 29, associates must wear navy blue or white collared shirts paired with khaki or black pants, capris or skirts.

Employees will also be required to wear a Walmart-branded vest, which the company will provide. However, Walmart says its employees will have to purchase the rest of their work uniform at their own expense. The company even set up a website for employees to buy their new required work clothes at Walmart.

Well, isn't that nice?

I'm sure Walmart will be able to point their employees towards the right federal agency to get a grant for a company uniform.

Excuse me but a retail business does not make a profit on items it uses itself.

At best they can write off the cost of the items but there is no profit. And they can't write it off twice

Tell me again how rich you are if you don't even know that?

How about WalMart security in SWAT gear taking over police duties for the entire city????

True story. Google it.

And what of the plus-sized employees and the XS employees? Wal Mart does not stock a lot of work wear for them. I will admit that you have a point (sort of) insofar as "buying the clothes from themselves" which is probably the case. However taking the time to manage such a project is something that will cost one of their managers serious time each week. When you have 100 employees, some are going to get stains on their well made Wal Mart garments, lose buttons, rip, tear etc...

Seriously...your position on this is nutty. You're usually a lot more intelligent than you're letting on here.
