The oil companies have little control in the market. It's the commodities market that controls the price of oil. Trust me, I was in the commodities market for several years.

Europeans pay $7.00 a gallon for gasoline. WTF wants to be traveling on a bus or train twice a day or more? Nobody that I know of and I don't care how good the system is. I don't want to have to wake up a half-hour early to use mass transit. I get in my car, and the only thing I have to stop for is stop lights or perhaps an accident on the highway. I don't have to worry about getting home if I'm working late. I can turn on my radio to whatever talk or music station I like. In extreme weather, I start my car from my phone to warm it up or cool it off before I get in.
