WTF do you think we have judges for? In your line of thinking, once a jury finds a subject guilty, they should just hit the enter button on their laptop to spit out the sentence instead of having a judge do it.

We have judges to weigh the circumstance of the crime. You don't give a public servant, who put their life on the line everyday to protect the public, the same sentence as you do with a drug dealer who killed somebody over a bad dope deal, that had a criminal history back to their juvenile days.

Accidents happen all the time. But an accident is not intentional. A judge understands that. The judge also understands that a police officer has a long list of enemies because of the nature of a police officers job. A badge only gives you so much protection against a bullet. That's why most police officers carry off duty.

She made a deadly mistake, and she's paying for it with ten years of her life, plus having to live with the guilt of killing an innocent man until she dies herself. That's why we have judges.

Well with that comment, I once again quote Rush Limbaugh: You cannot tell somebody they are wrong; they have to decide that for themselves. All you can do is provide your point of view to help them make that decision.

As I stated earlier, the reason we have judges is so everybody is not sentenced the same way. If everybody got the same sentence regardless of the circumstance, we would have no need for judges. If the jury voted guilty, you got X. If the jury voted not guilty, you are set free.

There's a huge difference between somebody who took an ax and hacked an elderly couple walking down the street, and a person who accidentally discharged their gun while cleaning it thus killing somebody. One was an intentional crime, and the other just not taking any precautions. The ax murderer should be executed in public. The careless gun cleaner should be given some sort of punishment, but not the death penalty.
