Speeders kill americans every day and still the press brainwashes people into accepting the carnage and instead worrying about the tiny problem of terrorism.!!
Operation Revenue Generation: DC Mayor Seeks to Massively Expand Speed Camera Use, Lower Speed Limits, Raise Fines - informationliberation

dec 17 2015 Muriel Bowser, recently elected mayor of Washington, DC, has adopted all of the latest trends in municipal transportation planning. At a press conference Wednesday she released her "Vision Zero" action plan, which revolves around a speed camera expansion so vast that the District would become the nation's leader when it comes to bolstering a city budget with automated ticketing. Call it a "Vision of Zeroes."

With 146 ticketing cameras, the District of Columbia has never been short of automated enforcement. In 2013, the city's for-profit camera vendor, American Traffic Solutions (ATS), issued 2,398,136 tickets -- four citations for each resident -- worth $171,680,640. Bowser's action plan will lower speed limits and install a hundred new automated ticketing machines to collect fines raised to a $1000 maximum.

According to the District Department of Transportation's proposed rule, speed limits will be lowered to 15 MPH on any road near a "playground, recreational facility, pool, athletic field, or senior center." The same limit will apply to school zones around the clock, allowing tickets to be issued at midnight to ensure the safety of school children. If there is a police car happens to be on the side of one of these roads with flashing lights activated, traffic must crawl past at just 5 MPH or face a new $500 ticket.

The criminal coddlers will say "it's just about raising revenue". I say fine; make the criminals pay.

They should remove all speed limits. They infringe on my Liberty and my Freedom.

And I can change your post to this and it is still accurate:

Guns kill americans every day and still the press brainwashes people into accepting the carnage and instead worrying about the tiny problem of terrorism.!!

Let's go after the drunk drivers and text-drivers too. Criminal drivers are obviously the biggest crime problem we have, but the moron american can't see it.

Lol Americans and their car troubles! I hope you bought a Japanese car that will keep you safe!

I'd support seriously cracking down on speeding. To many idiots on the road in a hurry. Almost got run over by a guy this morning speeding AND texting.

I understand your concern about traffic safety but this is another gouging by the most corrupt government that doesn't have a Clinton or Obama.
Home rule in DC needs to be stopped.

People like that are psychopaths with no concern for the lives of others. Obama could save thousands of lives every year by saying that and announcing a war on speeders. Let's end the insane idea that speeding and text-driving are not "real crimes".

Automated Tickets are the easiest to beat because they violate Due Process.

You don't know the law. Speeding tickets are usually infractions, not felonies or misdemeanors, and thus are not actual crimes. They should be classed as crimes. but that's how it's done. THINK

Funny thing is anyone that has a navigation unit and keeps track of arrival time can clearly see speeding isn't saving anytime. Especially if you're hitting lights.

I love it.

Dangerous drivers (drunk or speeding or texting or just flat out aggressive) kill FAR MORE people than guns or terrorists.

Yet....the lefties and cop haters will whine "It's just to raise revenue" blah blah.

Funny....if it was about revenue....then cops are the worst businessmen in the world....the put up all the big metallic CHEAT SHEETS all over the roads telling you how to NOT pay fines. They often say "Speed Limit" or "Yield" or "Stop" or "No Turn" and shit like that.

ITT: Too Much Fail. Too many sheep who don't understand the Law, Due Process and how and even IF it applies to them.

If you wanna be a good slave just continue to assume Cops know the Law. Go right ahead.

It's actually not a crime, dingbat. It's a monetary fine only when you are captured on a speed cam. Absolutely nothing goes on your driving record. You simply owe the District $XXX.XX dollars. If you fail to pay, you go through the process of a collection agency, etc., which may ultimately damage your credit rating, but will NOT damage your driving record. That's why people who have the money - largely disregard speed cameras. They simply drive as fast as they want - and pay the money if recorded as speeding. It is indeed a revenue maker, numbnuts. Plain and simple. That's all it is.
