Washing machines/dryers prices up 17% under Trump (thank you, tariffs)

So many fuckin dumb greedy Americans. Many would gladly sell their fellow Americans out to get a cheaper washer & dryer. One could rightfully call those folks 'Traitors.'

You are right ,we should all buy inferior shit that cost more just to help out our fellow Americans!

Buy American, douchebag! Nuff said.

I buy the best quality for the best price.

I do not give a fuck where it is made.

That's because you've become a Globalist douchebag. You could care less about your fellow Americans. Shame on ya.

:21::21::21::21:

Yeah, buying things made in other countries makes me a globalist! :290968001256257790-final:

You sheep are too damn funny!

But hey, you keep paying more money for inferior products, that is the American way after all! :21::21::21:

Maybe they'll start making those washers & dryers in the US again. I'll gladly pay a little more if it means helping out fellow American Workers. Good on Trump for trying.

There are lots of washers and dryers made in the US already, plenty for you to choose from to help out your fellow American. Why were you not doing so already?

Cool, more being made in the US would be even better. At least Trump's trying. That's so much more than many past US Presidents have done.

Yes, Trump is trying to take away my freedom of choice.

Trump is trying to pick winners and losers in the economy.

And Trump is trying to give the central government even more control over the economy!

Pretty soon we can be just like China and the EU! :113:

China and the EU are laughing at the US. They're laughing all the way to the bank.

Yeah, sure they are. That is why we have a higher GDP than both of them, we have lower unemployment rate than both of them!

Our US Globalists have been selling American Workers out for decades. It's about time someone stood up for them. I truly respect Donald Trump.

If you want the government to control the economy, you need to move to a country that has a socialist economy, and quit trying to fuck up our free market economy.

There are a lot of socialist countries out there, quit trying to make America one also!

Also, I bet 1000 bucks your house is filled to the rim with stuff made other than the US.

Why kind of cell phone do you use?

American Workers are capable of being the best in the world in manufacturing goods. They always have been. They once were. But greedy US Globalists have sold them out. They went with foreign Slave Labor. They're traitors. Fluck em.

It's time to throw American Workers a bone. Y'all Globalists have screwed them for decades. Time to start fighting for them again. And i think Trump's trying to do that. God bless him.

Time for Americans to start looking out for fellow Americans again. This 'Fuck that, i just want the cheapest foreign-made product i can get' mentality, needs to end. Time to end the Globalist reign of terror.

The government is not controlling the economy. Individual companies that trade overseas cannot make trading policies with foreign entities, our federal government does. What Trump is saying is that if we sell you one apple, you sell us one orange. The way things are today, we sell you one apple, and you sell us a bushel of oranges.

I will be happy to pay a bit more for various goods if it means that the money goes to American workers rather than Chinese or Mexican worker-bee slave-drones.

And you are free to do so, there are lots of products you can buy that are American made. Why do we need the central government to force people to do such things?

Good luck going to the store and finding them. Stores sell whatever is the cheapest, and foreign made products are exactly that.

Stores sell what we want to buy, that is how they stay in business. If there was a large demand for made in America goods, they would be there to sell

Absolutely, but that's not the case. Most Americans want cheap products and they don't care where they are made or who gets put out of a job. That's why Walmart is (and has been) number one. If they put out more expensive American made products, they simply wouldn't sell.

You are correct. Seems where we differ is on whether it is the function of the central government to take that choice away from its citizens

How are they taking those products away? You can still buy all the Chinese crap you desire. You are just going to have to pay a little more for it.

It is the function of our government to set trade rules.

...So, we should give up our freedoms now to avoid them maybe being taken away later...sorry, I can never agree with that.
A level playing field and a strengthening of our strategic manufacturing plant are far more important than the price of the Chinese and Mexican goods you want to buy.

My loyalty is to the United States and its strategic necessities rather than the thickness of your billfold.

I actually care more about my freedom of choice than the thickness of my wallet.

You have been manipulated by fear to cheer the removal of even more of your freedoms. Fear is the great motivator, it will get people to give up freedom, rights and liberty.

Two Problems With the Trade Deficit

An ongoing trade deficit is detrimental to the nation’s economy because it is financed with debt. The United States can buy more than it makes because it borrows from its trading partners. It's like a party where the pizza place is willing to keep sending you pizzas and putting it on your tab. This can only continue as long as the pizzeria trusts you to repay the loan. One day, the lending countries could decide to ask America to repay the debt. On that day, the party is over.

A second concern about the trade deficit is the statement it makes about the competitiveness of the U.S. economy itself. By purchasing goods overseas for a long enough period of time, U.S. companies lose the expertise and even the factories to make those products. Just try finding a pair of shoes made in the America. As the United States loses competitiveness, it outsources more jobs, and its standard of living declines.

Maybe we examine exactly where we have trade deficits instead of listening to Trump tell us that we are getting screwed by everybody when we are not.

What you wrote is a lie. You lied as always.

Low Yields, multiple defects and the lack of continual improvement put Americans out of jobs. Other countries have figured out how to make similar products less expensive while using less materials. Think KAIZEN.

Funny thing though, the American Manufacturing Companies are subsidied to keep jobs here in the States. Think the Southern State auto industry and right to work states (right to fire your ass) which is a Socialistic policy.

So much for American Capitalism and free trade.

Wanna buy laundry equipment for your home? Good luck paying more than you used to, thanks to Donald J. Trump and his tariffs.
In this thread, we will come up with ideas as to how to lower said prices again:
Opinion | Trump’s tariffs are already backfiring
whos ass you blowing smoke up anyhow

even without a sale

still pretty cheap for a washer -n- dryer

i get the feeling you are obvious to the "real world"

Washing Machines - Washers & Dryers - The Home Depot
Yup I bought the one I posted earlier at Home Depot last Sunday.
Start saving for the replacement now...and if it is a new top loader, be aware it will not actually get your clothes clean.

It cleaned my work clothes just fine and they are dirty as they get. Also I don't need to "SAVE" for an appliance purchase. Don't you people have existing savings? I pay cash for EVERYTHING so I have zero debt.

How the US Trade Deficit Hurts the Economy

Your first point is bullshit. The national debt has nothing to do with the trade deficit. We have a trade deficit because you and I and just about every other American chooses to buy things made in other countries. Every toaster bought from China at a WalMart or every BMW bought from the dealer or ever bottle of wine from Italy. They are all being bought by the citizens and not the government.

We have a national debt because the federal government spends more money than it brings in, but it is not spending that money on buying foreign goods.

I do agree we lose expertise and factories over time, but if those jobs are replaced with similar paying jobs, then there is no change in standard of living
