This argument has the assumption that all military will blindly follow orders to attack its own citizenry. This argument does not assume the percentage of military personnel that will NOT attack its own people and will also turn their allegiance against the tyrannical gov't.
The argument assumes that only defense against a tyrannical gov't will come from private citizens and will not start from within the military.
This argument assumes that the gov't will resort these types of weapons when in fact the gov't would try to not destroy our own infrastructure.

In short, this argument has a lot of assumptions.

Massachusetts offers a model for dealing with gun violence that the rest of the country could follow.

Yet despite this effort to roll back even a very modest effort to restrain the ability of seriously incapacitated people from obtaining deadly weapons, this morning Trump tweeted that there were “so many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed,” implying that someone should have done something to report him.

Specifically, what Obama did was order to Social Security Administration to take the list of people who were deemed so severely mentally ill that they are unfit to handle their own disability benefits and forward it to the FBI. The FBI was then supposed to incorporate that list in the background checks used to disqualify people from gun ownership.

Do you really think there are Democrats in the government that are stupid enough to carpet bomb United States citizens?

Why would you need another level of bureaucracy with a "gun license" when you need a drivers license and another form of identification and fill out several forms to legally buy a gun? You mentioned a 'slew' of motor vehicle laws to protect citizens. However, it is only when a repeat drunk driver kills someone is his or her vehicle taken away.
