The economy is being harmed by the Coronavirus hysteria created by the mainstream media. The virus itself will not harm our economy that much as long as we don't over-react. Most of the damage being done by the Coronavirus is being done by people talking about it and over-reacting. Contrast this with how well the world handled the flu pandemic of 1918. The stock market in the USA actually only dropped about 5% that year.

To put things into perspective, the 1918 flu killed about 50,000,000 people out of 1.6 billion. Today, that would be proportional to a virus killing about 215 million people worldwide. That sounds like it would be devastating, except if there was no global market crash in 1918, there is certainly no reason for us to panic and create one today.

We need to stop panicking, stoically let the virus run its course and keep working or we might suffer an economic depression.

We had some people fighting for the toilet paper at my local grocery store. Another person overpaid for about 80 rolls. Also, place was packed with people, some products completely out of stock.

I think we've had 1 person total die from this. Everyone is anticipating the national quarantine. It's oversold, over promoted by MSM (especially in the U.S who want to hurt Trump and keep any focus away from Biden) and people become irrational.

I grew up in a more civilized age, I guess.

Naw, people have always been silly, since the dawn of time. The instinct to survive is the most primal and powerful instinct. People have their heads in a daze at the idea of fear, and I get some of it, I just don't get all of it.

I'm not going to undermine the dangers, but, I just know people reaction, at least in Canada; listen, react, don't ask questions, don't seek answers and always expect that we are headed toward impending doom. It helps nobody, least of all themselves. They have selective hearing and selective, irrational dangers, not unlike being afraid of heights or snakes.

When SARS happened, there was a big concert in Ontario to raise money and to show the world "there's nothing to fear in Canada" as we were deemed a dangerous location. I didn't miss a day of work, I went about my business, I didn't even follow much of the entire situation.

I just feel there are some thing you can't control, you can only do your part to mitigate. I'd like to think, I'm not the guy who hears "fire" in a movie theatre and I trample everyone on the way out.

Stay calm. Use your head. Make decisions that make sense like washing your hands, not touching everyone and everything around, don't travel to Europe right now, etc. If you have to get out of a situation or avoid danger, do so, but don't become a zombie.

Just as I said after 9/11, I can't walk around in fear. What kind of existence is that? I don't want it to be my time, but if I do what I can (and hopefully govt. does what it can under tough circumstances), what more can be expected? If the Good Lord calls, I have to pick up the phone.
