So you deny that nationalism was the driving force for both WW 1 and 2 or the war of 1871 between Germany and France, or the Napoleonic wars or a hundred other conflicts before that? Europe has been at relative peace for more than 70 years. The longest uninterrupted peace since the stone age in that continent. That peace has been sustained while all of its nations had socialism in one form or another. And the peace was sustained because nationalistic tendencies were suppressed by the UN, NATO and the EU more recently.Claiming that nationalism is the answer, is like claiming gasoline is the answer to fire.

Technically, it has been partisan, Democrat policies have ruled, Democrats who have been joined by so called Republicans. Conservative policies have not been tried since Reagan.
