We will get him THIS time....

Perhaps he lied about it to avoid problems with his wife, or perhaps he lied about it because it was personally embarrassing or perhaps he lied about it because it was politically inconvenient, but there is no evidence of anything illegal in any of this. Michael Cohen was sentenced to 36 months in prison on Wednesday, in part for 'brazen violations of the election laws' when he orchestrated hush money payments on behalf of President Donald Trump during the 2016 election, according to federal prosecutors."
Your article got it wrong. He was guilty of bank fraud and lying several times under oath about paying the hush money but paying the hush money itself is not a crime. If the hush money had come out of campaign funds, that would have been a crime, but everyone has agreed Trump paid it from his personal funds, so it was no crime. If it were a crime, don't you think Mueller or someone else would have charged the President by now? No new information was presented today.

  • During the 2016 election, Cohen paid $130,000 to adult film actress Stephanie Clifford, known as Stormy Daniels, and arranged for a publishing company to pay $150,000 to model Karen McDougal for her story in exchange for the women agreeing to not go public with allegations that they had affairs with Trump. (Trump has denied having affairs with either Clifford or McDougal.)
  • Prosecutors said the purpose of the hush payments was to influence the 2016 election, and treated them as campaign contributions, which are subject to restrictions under the Federal Election Campaign Act.
  • Cohen’s payment to Clifford, they said, exceeded the $2,700 limit on personal contributions to a single candidate for an election. The payment he helped arrange for McDougal flouted the ban on corporations contributing directly to campaigns."
You're just repeating what I said, that the worst case for Trump is that his payments to these women were unreported campaign contributions, and every presidential campaign pays fines for unreported campaign contributions; it is a civil and not a criminal matter. Both of Obama's presidential campaigns paid fines for unreported campaign contributions.

Why did Clinton lie under oath about a blow job? I mean you insist that was not illegal and yet he committed a Federal Offense rather then admit it.
Clinton was impeached, but not convicted.
Hopefully, today's Senate Republicans will do a better job of defending the Constitution than Democrats did in 1998?

How Michael Cohen broke campaign finance law
Well, Cohen has told so many different lies it is hard to keep track of all of them. At first, Cohen said he and not Trump had paid the hush money and that meant that if the hush money was seen as a campaign contribution, Cohen had contributed far more than the legal limit and was guilty of a felony, but since then, he has acknowledged that the money came from Trump and since there is no legal limit to how much a candidate can give to his own campaign, Trump did nothing illegal in paying the hush money. The curious fact is that Cohen ended up pleading guilty to a campaign law violation which we now know he didn't commit since he never made a campaign contribution, the hush money, in excess of the legal limit.

It was quite funny, in Cohen's closing statement he just rambled all the democrat talking points, being held hostage by the Hillary Democrat Mafia. He even brought up the shut down and border wall. Democrats have no morals or conscience, making a man do and say anything in order to save his family and get less jail time.

This shit is a joke!
Listening to Cohen try and sound virtuous makes me wanna puke.
Him saying how worried he is about his family is pathetic!!
Where was that concern while you were out ripping off banks?
That is all more so to do with your preconceived notions. You probably thought kavanaugh was a hero, strozk a slime bag, sessions a hero, Rosenstein a slime bag, Gowdy a hero, Cummins and Connolly obv slime...and on and on like that right? Right?

A check is no smoking gun as it has no comment on what it was for.... Trump probably paid Cohen hundreds of times with checks. A 5 year old could destroy THAT claim.
Doesn't need a comment. It's physical evidence of a campaign finance crime used before and after a presidential election. It's the knowing and willful commission of a crime and not reporting the payment. That's a federal crime that has been proven. Don't believe me, look up the statute.

First off, its not smocking gun, its smocking gun.

Cohen’s Feb. 27 public testimony also provided ample evidence of other possible crimes, including the President’s apparent knowledge of and consent to Cohen’s false testimony to Congress about Trump Organization dealings in Russia, Trump’s knowledge and approval of Roger Stone’s dealingsregarding the Wikileaks handling of the Russian hack of the Democrats, and more.
