Welcoming the American president Gaza style

iRosie -

Well their leaders at the time spoke of themselves as Palestinians, and that is good enough for me.

no they did not-----remarking on a rebellion of the ARABS OF PALESTINE----is not
a SELF IDENTIFICATION AS "PALESTINIANS"-------there were "palestinians" who
lived in KUWAIT-----they were THE PALESTINIANS OF KUWAIT-----not KUWAITIS
in fact----the POLISH JEWS-----did not actually identify themselves as "POLES"
nor did the catholics of Poland see them as POLES. I can assure you that the
Jews of Yemen do not see themselves as 'arabs'----or even YEMENIS----

you are a bit ego-centric in your understanding of how the people of
the world self identify and where lies their sense of "nationality"

You claimed the Ottomans did not control Arabia,

Yes, which is true, of course.

As any schoolboy knows, the Ottoman Empire never controled more than perhaps 20% of what is now Saudi Arabia, and only controled parts of what is now Eastern Jordan (e.g. Wadi Rum) on paper. Deals with local tribesmen were acts of conveniance at best, and only existed at all because of the absence of any legitimate challenge.

You probably wouldn't be familiar with Lawrence of Arabia, but his bio (not to mention the sublime David Lean film) are worth checking out for anyone actually interested in the topic. Wadi Rum is also a wonderful place to visit.

There was no Saudi Arabia a hundred years ago. The region was Known as Arabia and the main areas of population concentration were Mecca and Medina and other coastal regions, EXACTLY THE AREAS the Ottomans controlled. The inner part was all some of the harshest deserts known to man, and hardly populated, so who would want to control that anyhow.

Your claim "the Ottomans did not control Saudi Arabia" was both off topic and a LIE.

The main point was Tinmore made it look like all these countries carved out of the Ottoman Empire and rulers placed in power were with the "consent" of the people. THEY WEREN'T. The British and the French made those decisions.

Roudy -

Again, this seems to be a literacy issue.

What I posted:

what is now Saudi Arabia

How you responded:

There was no Saudi Arabia a hundred years ago.

Ask someone who can read or write to explain your error to you.
Have you always been this full of shit or did you have to practice to get this good?

The history of Saudi Arabia, as a state, begins with its foundation in 1932 by Abdul Aziz Al Saud.

Beginning with Selim I's acquisition of Medina and Mecca in 1517, the Ottomans, in the 16th century, added to their Empire the Hejaz and Asir regions along the Red Sea and the Al Hasa region on the Persian Gulf coast, these being the most populous parts of what was to become Saudi Arabia. They also laid claim to the interior, although this remained a rather nominal suzerainty.
