Well, at least one country learned a lesson from the failed Iraq War.

The Iraq war was a success. The objectives were reached.

:cuckoo:

Laughable.

There was a silver lining: The GOP's undeserved reputation for competency in foreign policy was finally exposed for the total fraud that it's always been.

Competency of gutless pukes who had their Daddies get them out of fighting the Communists? That took geniuses at false-image making to pull off such a Big Lie. Their PR guys deserve Academy Awards.

Yep, it looks like Republicans met every single one of their goals. Iraq is the biggest GOP success to date. Even bigger than what they did to the economy. Even bigger than trillions in debt. Even bigger than blocking an American economic recovery.

It just goes to show you that when Republicans put their mind to it, they can do anything.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron loses Syria war vote - POLITICO.com

President Barack Obama’s latest geopolitical problem: His closest ally won’t help him attack Syria.

But he is not letting that stop him.

Britain’s House of Commons on Thursday evening rejected a motion from Prime Minister David Cameron to endorse British participation in military action in Syria, potentially hurting Obama’s effort to punish the Bashar Assad regime for its reported use of chemical weapons.
The White House made clear after the vote that it is willing to act alone on Syria.

“We have seen the result of the Parliament vote in the U.K. tonight,” National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said in a statement. “The U.S. will continue to consult with the U.K. government – one of our closest allies and friends.

==============================================

The UK learned their lesson. Sadly, not even Obama gets how deeply stupid and unpopular getting involved in Syria is. When is he going to come to his senses? I would expect this kind of idiocy from Mitt and especially McCain, but from Obama? I'm very disappointed.

If the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize had not shot his mouth off saying Assad must go and put out red line ultimatums he would not find himself in the position he is now in. Even Romney and McCain would not do something as idiotic as paint themselves into the corner that Obama has.

LBJ said, "I will not send American boys to fight a war that Asian boys should fight themselves." Why is it that Presidents can only back off from promises of non-intervention?

Well, the imbecilic, sclerotic US Constitution encourages the misrule of tyrants and war-mongers.

Britain's Parliamentary system makes government at least somewhat responsive to the Will of the People.

By the way, Velveeta, I like your avatar. It so nicely sums up so much of what the USA is :

False premise. The Iraq War was not "failed."

Yes it was. Polls show most Americans think so too. GET OVER IT.

"Polls show"?! Just how damn stupid are you?

We achieved our objectives in that war, idiot.

No, we did not. It was a failure.

There were no WMD in Iraq. Iraq is now an ally of Iran. Most Iraqis hate the US. There is no real democracy there. The violence continues there.

Listen, I get how tough it is to admit you were wrong. I get that. There were few, if any, cheering Iraqis that greeted our troops, and when they did greet them, it was with roadside bombs. The failure of the GOP to fight the war competently led to the GOP losing Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008. This is not the result that the conservatives who supported the Iraq War had in mind.

But the sooner conservatives not only admit to the Iraq War being a mistake and failure, the sooner the US voters will trust them with power in the White House.

Admit you were wrong, and promise not the repeat the mistake.

Unless it comes to getting something in return for that $3 trillion dollars?

they have to spin it so they make Obama a hero...and not the failure most of the people see him as...

no surprise..

let them live in Obama-Walley world..

How did the Iraq war fail? It was a brilliant Military victory. American forces went further faster and took less casualties than any other conflict. A tyrant was deposed and UN objectives were satisfied. About 30% of democrats approved the mission and later pretended they were bystanders or members of the jihad. If the mission failed in any way it was because the radical left wing democrat party engaged in treason and polluted the political air.

How does the left presume to judge that a war is a failure? Because they just feel it? They heard it somewhere in the media? By casualties? By mission parameters? By political loyalty?
