What gives us the right?

If you have no desire to tell people they are wrong, why did you start this thread whose theme is all about you telling people they are wrong?

Nice spin attempt, but, as usual, you failed...

You really should answer the question.

The thread ASKS a question. What gives the US the right to tell other countries that their beliefs and customs are wrong?

Not one of you has even attempted to answer that basic question.

Nice spin attempt, but, as usual, you failed.

The question was what gives us the superiority to tell other nations that what they believe is wrong and that we are always right.

Our stance on gays is just an example, the issue is our international arrogance in trying to tell the rest of the world that they should act and believe as we do.

You libs will never get it, and yet you wonder why the USA is hated in much of the world.

Isn't that what Christians do?

Some do. I have never supported missionaries who try to preach and tell others that their way of worshiping God is wrong.

Americans need to learn that our first amendment does not apply outside of this country.

So your question is, what is the legal protection for an American to criticize the policies of another country if they are in that country?

NOW that's what you're trying to characterize as the real question you were asking?

lol, what a backtrack!!!

In the context asked, it is a question based on a false premise, as has been pointed out to you time and time again.

No, it is not a false premise. It is true that the whitehouse and the US olympic committee has gone out of their way to poiint out the gayness of some of our athletes and to make a big deal out of the Russian position on homosexuality.

My question is valid, the fact that you cannot answer it verifies its validity.

Not at all, that is a side issue. The basic question is valid. Who are we to tell other countries how to live and what to believe?

If that is our role inthe world, as you and some others have claimed, why don't we go into muslim countries and tell them that their religion is based on hate and intolerance?

It is false, since we are not "forcing" any attitude toward homosexuality on Russia. You want to go through another 20 pages of the exact same thing?

I never said that. Who are you to tell the President who he should or shouldn't criticize?

The President has the right to his opinions, and the President also has the right to appoint the US delegation to the Olympics.

Simple enough for you?

What gives us the right to force homosexuality on Russia? Who do we think we are that we can tell another large country that they must accept homosexuality as normal?

If the Russian people want to treat homosexuality as a perversion, what gives us the right to send a delegation of gays over to tell them they are wrong?

We cannot tell muslims that they are wrong, we cannot say Christian prayers at high school ball games, we cannot put a manger scene in front of a public building, we say nothing about the persecution of Christians in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

But we get all spun up about gaydom and think we can force Russia to change their polciies on gays.

WTF is going on? We have become a nation of hypocrites.
homosexuality has already been in Russia. It doesn't have to be 'forced' on any culture as it already is in every culture.

Should the United States remained mute after Krystalnacht? Once it was apparent that Jews were being discriminated against, should the Western World turn a blind eye and say to each his own?

Are we not the land of the free and the home of the brave? Who hypocritical would it be for us to put our heads in the sand once we see human rights abuses?

What? We're forcing Russians to be homosexuals now? Wow how are they doing that?

You must be high! Are you a gay fish or what?

Well, if nothing else in this thread, we've gotten Redfish to throw Jesus under the bus.

LOL, not at all. But your lack of comprehension is reconfirmed.

Then I guess you have no issue with muslims wanting to convince the rest of the world that islam is the only real religion? How about if the chinese sent a delegation to the US with the goal of convincing americans that no couple should have more than one child?

why is it OK for us to do it, but not for anyone else?

See, thats what you lefties don't get. The russians and muslims think that our views on homosexuality are human rights abuses.

So we get all pompous and tell them that we are right and they are wrong.

What makes us always right, and everyone else always wrong?

You're looking at it all ass-backwards.

It's not about "forcing" homosexuality, it's about shaming people into respecting basic human rights. You can't discriminate against a person because of how they were born.

It would be like banning people who are left-handed from marrying other lefties.

I corrected that several pages ago, we are openly "campaigning" against the Russian's views on homosexuality. What gives us the right to tell them they are wrong?

NO, we cannot "force" our views on anyone outside of the US. Funny, but the govt is trying to force one view on everyone inside the US, and openly targeting and denigrating anyone who dares disagree.

Is that freedom? or is it a tyranical government?

Well, thats your view. Others do not see it that way. Others (not me) see homosexuality as a perversion or an aberation. Why are they not allowed to hold those views?

two southpaws getting married is not even close to a valid analogy

But they are allowed to hold those views, just like you are. I think the problem is in putting them in jail for wearing something, or I guess acting gay in public?

There it is, then. Redfish wants to be permitted to discriminate against homosexuals here.......and he used this false premise thread as a way to bring it up.

Targeting and denigrating! Oh no!!!!!
