What happened to the Democratic Party?

It does. It's called reading "in context"

Such as the difference between a lead singer.

And a shotgun shell filled with lead pellets.

If you apply the English definition of causing to follow. You would be wrong.
What does a Senator do?

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector. Art 2, Section 1 US Constituiton

But a senator is not a representative.
A Senator is certainly a represenative, he represents his or her State in the US Senate. He is not a Representative, as we use that term to refer to the member of the US House of Representatives, that represent districts within a State.

This stuff is really 8th Grade Civics. I am not surprised it's lost on you

Definition within context is why we don't call the Vice President, Mr/Mrs President.
At least not yet.

Don't think we ever will since the VP isn't the President.

What a weird comment.

You can say the VP represents the Executive Branch.

Like you say a US Senator is a representative of his State.

When in the Senate, the Vice President, is the President of the senate.

Context.

At the beginning of each daily meeting, the presiding officer accompanies the Senate chaplain to the rostrum for the opening prayer and leads the Senate in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The vice president of the United States serves as president of the Senate and therefore its presiding officer.

Senators must direct all remarks to the presiding officer, whom they address as “Mr. President” or “Madam President.”

That's true, and is referred to as Mr or Madam President. When it's not the VP it's the President Pro Temp

Context is very important and apparently something you have issues with, I'll give you that
