What is the U.S. goal in Ukraine?

As you know, China has us by the short and curlies. If Chinese weapons start showing up in Ukraine, what are we going to do? Will President Biden write them a strongly worded letter?
Economic sanctions against China would expedite their already declining economic future. They can’t afford to stand against us. They can however ignore Putin’s self made problems. They will do just that.

Destabilize russia because they don't play ball with esg scores, and the world economic forum?

Try to get rid of Russia because they need to blame all of their issues on russia and justify blaming them for trump and republicans?

Generate money for the war machine which rakes in a lot of cash for a lot of war industries of which people get kick backs for?

To launder insane amounts of money through Ukraine?

The hope of creating a situation big enough they will be able to slip some kind of regulation in or even use it as an excuse to somehow flip to digital currency by crashing the dollar by just shoveling billions and billions of dollars at them? Basically using the war on Russia as a smoke screen for something bigger?

Could be a lot of things.
Nice story, bro.
Putin invaded all on his own.

Opposition parties like those supporting Russia, media outlets openly supporting Russia, and he he has not shut down any religions except targeting spies operating through the Russian Orthodox church. That is not at all unlike the actions taken by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War.
"Yet a closer look at life in Zelensky's Ukraine reveals that it is not the paragon of democracy and Western values that everyone seems to think it is. Ukraine is a deeply corrupt country with wealthy oligarchs playing the same role there as they do in Putin's Russia. Using the war as an excuse, Zelensky has banned his political opposition and shut down all media not controlled by his regime."

"The latest example of his authoritarian style is even more egregious."

"Zelensky's attempt to bar Orthodox churches that answer to the Russian Orthodox Church ought to dispel any notion that Americans are supporting Western values of freedom in this war."

"The notion that Ukraine was such an appealing democratic model in Eastern Europe that the country’s mere existence terrified Putin may be a comforting myth to U.S. politicians and pundits, but it is a myth. Ukraine is far from being a democratic‐capitalist model and an irresistible magnet for Russia’s groaning masses. The reality is murkier and troubling: Ukraine has long been one of the more corrupt countries in the international system. In its annual report published in January 2022, Transparency International ranked Ukraine 123rd of the 180 countries it examined, with a score of 32 on a one to 100 point scale. By comparison, notoriously corrupt Russia ranked just modestly lower, 139th, with a score of 29."

"Ukraine’s track record of protecting democracy and civil liberties is not much better than its performance on corruption. In Freedom House’s 2022 report, Ukraine is listed in the “partly free” category, with a score of 61 out of a possible 100. Other countries in that category include such bastions of liberal democracy as Rodrigo Duterte’s Philippines (55), Serbia (62), Hungary (59), and Singapore (47). Interestingly, Hungary—which has been a target of vitriolic criticism among progressives in the West because of Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s conservative social policy—ranks eight points higher than Ukraine, which is the recipient of uncritical praise from the same Western ideological factions."

Maybe if you stopped reading Newsweak and the Catlitter Institute, you might have a clue. Both are liberal mouthpieces!

I am shocked, SHOCKED I SAY, to learn that you are so uninformed about the corruption that has been present in Ukraine for many decades.

I think we can agree that as far as the citizens of Ukraine are concerned, they would be any better or worse off under Ukraine or Russia. Their country wouldn't be destroyed nor would so many be dead and injured.

So specifically, what specific strategic importance is Ukraine to our country? That is other than the corrupt Berisma Gas Company paying Hunter and the Biden family tens of millions of dollars.

So that is a justification for war with Russia?

You are not in war with Russia. Russia is in war with the Ukraine - what means Russia attacks Europe. The Ukraine is no nuclear power - specially because they had been so wise to listen to their friends in the world - also to Europe and the USA - to give all nukes "back" to Russia when they became independent and to stop all nuclear weapon programs in the Ukraine. Russia is a nuclear power. This means: Russia is not able to lose this war because in case she is losing this war she could destroy the whole world. On the other side will start an international arms race in context nukes when this is the only guarantee not to be attacked from one of the nuclear powers - what will be a damned uncalculable situation with tendence to heavy man made catastrophes.

So I would say the only military goal for Europe and the USA is to give then Ukraine a best chance also not to lose this war. And the political goal has to be to make sure that such an attack never again will happen - for example also not an attack of China (nuclear power) on Taiwan. So this means Russia has to have to suffer for this very heavy mistake from the 21st century BC which they made now in the 21st century. War crimes should not be a business modell any longer.

The current situation is: Still the Ukraine is not lost and Russia is not able to win easily. And as far as I heard lost the Russian federation about 50% of their current receipts with oil- and gas - which are in total about 1/3 of their receipts. So Russia lost about 1/6 - maybe more - of their government revenue.

My question is: What are Russia's true goals for the war in Ukraine?

To make the Ukraine to an integrated part of Russia. This could fro exmaople alos mean they will kill and/or replace a big part of the population there.

Aside from "making the world safe for democracy" or some similar claptrap, what is the specific goal of U.S.policy towards Ukrainian territory? Is it to restore Ukrainian sovereignty over its 2020 borders with Russia, or is it to restore its sovereignty over Crimea, which was "annexed" by Russia in 2014? Or are we simply giving a blank check to Ukranian President Zelinsky to do whatever he wants?

It's by the way not political correct to use "spasms" in verbal confrontations. This is darwinsistic, member of the race of superior idiots.
Nobody imposes his "political correctness" on me, Spast.
All the more as long as it "political correct" to call people with other opinions Nazi.
