What's wrong with our economy?

They wouldn't be starving if they had jobs created by a faster growing economy.

So lets do this:

-Raise minimum wage to $23.50/hr. Based on where minimum wage should be using 1970-2013 rise in food, shelter, and transportation.

-Eliminate all business subsidies (deductions/write-off’s/write-downs) except for employee expenses which are deducted dollar-for-dollar on all city, state, and Federal taxes and fees with the Feds refunding city, State, and fees.

-Companies with 300 employees or less, employee expenses above the deduction are subsidized at 100% with funds usually give back to the States.

-Adjust Social Security and private/public retirement and pension payments using 1970-2013 price structure. Remove the FICA limit.

-Back down ALL costs, prices, fees, to January 1, 2009 levels and hold them for 10 years which will eliminate inflation.

-Recall ALL off-shore investments tax free, and disallow any further off-shore investments.

-Make inversion illegal.

That just isn't so. Globalization is one of the goals capitalists have been pursuing for decades and which they achieved to a large extent during the conservative ascendancy in American government. Reagan, both Bushes and Clinton sent American jobs overseas. None of them are liberals, not even Clinton.

dear, you changed the subject. Are you saying liberal unions and liberal taxes haven't driven 30 million jobs off shore??

Answer the question, don't try to change the subject!

Me? You brought-up unions.

No, the problem with the US economy is the productivity gap. Since the late '70s, productivity has been increasing but capitalists haven't been sharing their increased profitability with workers. Without that fair share, workers were able to maintain their consumption of goods and services only by working more hours and borrowing. Now they've hit their limit. They can't borrow enough and they can't work more hours. The economy will continue to stagnate until they get their fair share of the wealth they create.

In every area, every type of business, we need to train/educate our own people and then pay for good talent instead of allowing the Republicans to trash our schools and then hire from other countries.

Americans should make the things Americans use. The solution to our economic problems is as simple as that.

of course thats stupid, illiterate and very very liberal. If countries built walls and/or states within the US built walls we'd all be far far poorer. PLease post on fridge for daily review!

yes stimulus was $787 billion, corporations have $3 trillion that they would bring back if we eliminated corporate tax. Plus they would bring back about 30 million jobs. Marxist stupid liberals want to punish corps with corp. taxes so they let America suffer!!

The United States is 16 out of 20 in highest actual corporate taxes.

Because more Americans would be working and spending? That hardly seems possibly. Please explain.

.

An excellent idea if we want to ship even more jobs to China! Notice how liberals always have very very intelligent ideas!

So you don't feel that American workers can make a better product?

dear, if you had to build your own house car and computer it would cost you a fortune, take all your time, and you'd be very very poor!!

If you insist.

The problem with the American economy, as I have stated above, is the productivity gap. Unions always have been a solution to that problem. By negotiating higher wages and better benefits, unions kept worker income and capitalist profits more closely aligned. The conservative war on unions changed that. Unions became less powerful, capitalists kept more of the wealth the workers created and America suffered.

dear, we cant make better bananas than Peru or better autos than Japan, or better lithium than SA or better Iphones than the Chinese.

I never said anything about doing it myself. Where do you get your crazy ideas?

Look at the number of manufacturers and factories that George W forced to close. How long before we can come back from that? One Percenter is right. Without money being spent in the market place, we cannot have a strong middle class who is employed at jobs that actually support a family.

if each country, state, or person builds a wall against trade people get poorer not richer. Do you understand?

Little Eddy dear lives in LaLaLand.

He used to post some of the nuttiest things about China and he is unable to learn anything beyond his party line nonsense.

... The problem is that the United States is spending budget money on completely ineffective programs: military operations and engineering research of the Pentagon, social programs and health programs ...

Why stop at the 50 yard line instead of going all the way to the end zone? The 1965 Immigration Reform Act opened the floodgates and millions of immigrants were added to the labor market, thus driving down the bargaining power of labor and strengthening capital's power to drive down wages in relation to productivity growth.
