Western leadership has been weak for a long time, no weaker than today.

Here is the scary part, even now when the West wants to see transparency and accountability on the Wuhan Virus, this pursuit will surely have many opponents since they've been well "educated". It's sort of like telling someone that "Russia, Russia" was b.s Those who maintain the allegations won't let them go. All of the efforts and narratives designed to destroy Trump have succeeded in destroying America and benefitting China.

I imagine the West sees China is flirting with a digital currency. They are promoting this currency to be used in buying Chinese made products with the goal of upending the U.S dollar. All of these efforts, funded by Western corporations and lost industries indirectly.

Maybe the light switch went on and all of these leaders are recognizing that they've been had. The CCP are smarter than they are and have a much longer time horizon in which to topple all of their power and influence. Western elites thought they could simply become one of the elite with their Chinese comrades.

Chinese leaders never for a moment shared these sentiments. So, all of the cover they've been provided for so long is going to be extremely difficult to rollback.

Their rulers are usually in power for life, and live a very luxurious life at that. So, they have no need to achieve results 'yesterday' and they won't really care about what happens after they are gone.

You're silly. There is no reliable standard response. The Obama Administration had the opportunity to construct a viral crisis response, following the H1N1 crisis, but failed. Bill Gates, the leading advocate for a viral crisis response, failed to construct a response strategy.

The Trump Administration put together a peerless response under ad hoc conditions.

Trump and trumpers have basically put fourth, it was an intentional biologic weapon. Trying to stigmatize the pandemic for political purpose, to give what trump always wants to give for political benefit, an acceptable enemy, even though we very well may have been funding the research under his watch. Suspect he was aware early and just wanted to escape any possible blame, as is typical of a man that says "I accept no responsibility, at all", a statement typical for a man of his character or more accurately, lack of character.
I have always liked the lab leak theory as it fits with careless stupidity (which is common in all accident situations), but never supported the weapon theory (as it does not fit weapons use theory) or that the Red Hoard was the evil culprit or that it had a damn thing to do with whether our real focus should have been or should be on fighting the pandemic with everything in the arsenal and taking maximum precautions to cut down the spread. Donny played Americans against Americans for political benefit from the start, though he admitted on tape to knowing the seriousness of the threat as early as February or before.
