Why are liberals still using the "we care about the military" routine?

They're always reminding us of how many of our brothers and sisters died in the wars they rendered utterly pointless. They love telling us that they just want to make sure we're never deployed despite the fact that deployment is something people compete for, at least in my branch. They've lately taken to pretending to care about the problems at the VA while desperately trying to slash military funding, thinking it will only affect the purchase of bombs and bullets without having any impact on our healthcare or other support systems. A lot of people even eat it up, too. The only problem is that we're not stupid, at least as a general rule. It's not hard to see your actions while we hear your words. If you don't give a damn about us then have the integrity to say it. I promise you I've heard far worse.
