Why Didn't Medicare Fail 50 Years Ago - And What Can We Do To End It Now???

Thing is, most people had medical insurance through the workplace. Retirement age then was 75. At that point you drew your Social Security INSURANCE, that you paid into the entire time of your employment. No gift, no entitlement. It was the worker's own money, paid into his retirement fund. Then within a few short years, the worker died. And his insurance was usurped by the government.
Medicare was reserved for the infirmed. Now it is a lifestyle for those who cannot or choose not to work at all. And Social Security has been robbed til nothing is left.
Social Security is a communist program too that needs to be abolished

Typical baby boomer jackass. Medicare and Social Security were created so asswipes like you would not have to support and cover the medical bills of your aging parents. And like the typical ungrateful, self-absorbed clueless idiot baby boomer, you have no idea just how great that gift was. Before Social Security the group with the highest percentage of people living in poverty were the aged. More than half, MORE THAN HALF, depended on family or charity for their support.

Medicare Celebrates Its 50th Birthday, Despite Ronald Reagan

How can a country who is not socialist, ever accept the Medicare program? You would think not one single democrat would have remained in office, not one single Democrat would ever get elected president again for being the party who passed Medicare.

We didn't even need Medicare back then, studies show that nearly 54% of Americans 65 and older had insurance coverage -- why? because it was unfair to expect the free market private insurance companies to pay for customers who'd become too expensive to cover -- and at the end of the day, that is what freedom is about, if you don't set aside enough savings to cover for medical emergencies, then you have the freedom to take that risk and suffer the consequences.

But leave it up to the libs to pass something as utterly evil as Medicare -- yea, 96% of Americans over 65 had health insurance -- but big deal -- however as Reagan warned -- that would lead to in less than 20 years as Reagan said "..a short step to all the rest of socialism, to determining his pay and pretty soon your son won’t decide when he’s in school where he will go or what he will do for a living.”

Once and for all, we need to end this socialist program and get back to the free market solutions that were working so much better prior to Medicare. Why Republicans aren't more upfront about just getting rid of Medicare entirely is a slap in the face to true conservatives like Reagan, Goldwater and Ayn Rand (who would rather die than take an ounce of Medicare).
So you are saying let them die?

One sick fuk.

Medicare didn't fail 5 years ago because Ponzi schemes generally take a while to collapse. SS is going to fail, too - for the same reason:

Demographic changes have dramatically lowered the number of taxpayers to support each benefit recipient.

SS was established in 1935, nearly a decade before the first baby boomer was born. Rather a stretch to blame unborn children for FDR's atrocity.

Sounds like a whole bunch of solutions in your comment

Medicare was the final gift to the Baby Boomers from the greatest generation. It was established in 1965. Now that they are reaping the benefits of that program they are more than willing to piss it away like they have everything else handed to them. A bunch of spoiled ass brats, they are the scourge of the earth.

Well the problem is it is now entrenced and being paid for by SSN> but back in the 70s congress (demos) went on a spending spree and gave a IOU to the House to fun several Liberal programs. The loan is really outstanding.

You can't be gone soon enough. Maybe those "death panels" would not be such a bad idea after all.

One that stuffs the Lockbox was a bunch of IOUs to be paid for by people who haven't yet been born and have no say in the matter.

Country went to hell just as Reagan predicted, and he NEVER raised taxes to pay for medicare .... THAT IS JUST ANOTHER MSM LIE lol

Excellent parody post

Hey, if a 92-year old lady with diabetes, a heart condition, arthritis in her hands and onset dementia can't afford to pay out of pocket for her health care SHE CAN GET A FUCKING JOB LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!

THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM COMMIE

MAGA!

:spinner:
.

The side that created it, can NOT fix it after 8 years of the wunderkid Obysmal, and now they want to go back to throwing grandma over the cliff for political points.

And you say Trump has no class? Some of you people are REALLY PATHETIC!

Medicare was sold as a program that would be self-sustaining and that would cost a fraction of what it ended up costing, and even then there was quite a fight against it.

Medicare is costing many times more than its authors claimed it would cost. Medicare now has some $30 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities over the next six decades, i.e., obligations that we don't know how we're going to pay for right now. This is not to mention the fact that Medicare is rife with fraud.

And, Mike forgot to add...….knowing this, Obysmal FLEECED it to fund his OBYSMALCARE, which is now collapsing, so was a waste of billions from the Medicare program!

Still no response from the cons when asked “what is your plan?”

99 percent of workers cannot possibly set aside nearly enough money for medical bills and pay for housing and basic necessities. Medical prices are high and many are one medium sized medical procedure away from bankruptcy without some kind of help. So if Medicare goes then you had better mandate lower cost procedures or only the mega wealthy receive medical care. A salary of 50 grand is nothing today.
.
You are barking up the wrong tree in your attempt to use logic, reason, and facts in your argument why most seniors need Medicare. All conservatives know is what the GOP and FOX Noise tells them. And you know full well the righties never hear any truth from these sources.
