Why is Scot Israel still the sheriff?

With the country still reeling from the slaughter of students in Parkland Florida, Broward County Sheriff Scot Israel has been making the rounds congratulating himself on a job well done. While bullets tore into the flesh of high school students, Parkland police, including armed school resource officer Scot Peterson, stood outside for six minutes and waited for the shooting to stop.

As the dead are buried, parents grieve and victims lie in the hospital with horrific injuries, Israel is feverishly making appearances on talk shows defending his politically correct police department and boasting about what a fantastic job he has done as Sheriff.

The damning security footage of Scot Peterson’s selfish inaction has been confiscated by authorities and Israel apparently has no intention of ever releasing it to the public. That footage no doubt depicts Peterson as Parkland high school senior Brandon Huff described him: cowering behind a stairwell pointing his gun at the building with the kids inside being mowed down by the shooter.

The public will never know how many of those students could have been saved if the generously paid, lavishly pensioned state employee had attacked the shooter with the same ferocity his fat jowls have been attacking doughnuts for the last decade. And if Scot Israel has his way that security footage will never see the light of day.

Peterson is gone, not fired but retired with a full pension. While the police guard his house protecting him from the press, citizens wonder if he is making plans for his retirement. Perhaps he will play golf next to a cemetery where some of the victims are buried because he couldn’t come to their aid by pointing a gun at the building while he was safe and they were dying.

Many questions linger as we wonder why Israel is getting away with hiding that security footage. The biggest question being: why is Israel still the sheriff of Broward County? Dereliction of duty is pretty clear in this case and Israel is front and center in placing incompetent policing in the public domain.

Seventeen people are dead and Scot Israel’s remorseless reaction is to dig in his heels and scream from the rooftops that he has no responsibility because he is doing a terrific job. The public needs two things; that security footage and Scot Israel’s immediate removal.

Those kids deserve better than to leave that clown in that job.

You cannot trust anyone or anything named Israel to do the right thing

Why? Because he is a Democrat, and Democrats defend their own no matter what. Look what's happening to the Republican governor of Missouri in a Republican-controlled state. Then, consider the fact that not a single Democrat in the FL legislature would sign the letter to Governor Scott asking for the sheriff's suspension pending the outcome of an investigation, even after all we now know about how unbelievably incompetent the sheriff's department was in handling the Cruz case and the subsequent shooting.

Clearly, we have to keep the attention on the guns and the NRA, not the police. There's a lot of damage control to be done to avoid anyone getting the idea that had a single armed person gone into the building, probably half the murdered children might still be alive. You can bet that if that video contained footage of Wayne LaPierre meeting with a gun manufacturer, there would be widespread interest in demanding that video be shown and questioned on every nightly news program.

There are games being played by not releasing that security footage. What's on that video is probably pretty straightforward. The guess here is that the Sheriff's Department is anticipating lawsuits and is framing a case to defend itself. The longer that security tape remains in the state's hands the more it likely it will be accidently/inadvertently lost or destroyed.

There is also reason to believe that evidence is being scrubbed from that video because there is something about this shooting that does not add up. It seems a little too convenient for gun control advocates. Is this person lying or is she crazy?

There may be strategic reasons for not releasing surveillance video.

He is still the sheriff because he was hired by the people of his county and it is their place to fire him or not. If you are not a voter in Broward county, you have no voice in his employment status

yep. and last night i was having dinner with a co worker who is from that area.

when they voted him in, they liked him. now near as he can tell, no one is going to vote for him again.

system will take care of itself via the system. the IGS (instant gratification society) needs to chill out and let things happen in due course.

He’s a Democrat.

Corruption and sloth is kinda their thing.

Obama was the most incompetent, lazy and corrupt president that ever lived, and Dems kept him in office 8 years.

Broward County is one of the most corrupt Dem strongholds in the country, ranking right up there with Shitcago and San Fran Julio.
