This goes along with Judge Neapolitano's remark that political parties are private entities, not government agencies. They can establish any rules they want.

In the modern political era, primaries and caucuses have been played outsized roles in determining nominees, but on a procedural level it’s always been an inside game governed by party delegate selection rules.

Makes sense. Now that voters have had a taste of chosing the nominee, they want MORE. But it's not really their choice. Should there be a third party, a People's Party? Golly, that sounds communist. Another name, please.
