Why should government be kept smaller, and restricted to only certain tasks?

I don't support a small government, I don't support a large government

I support a right sized government as determined by the voters and their constitutionally elected representatives

that is inconsistent with the majority of your posts, but no surprise in that. You are not what you claim to be, everyone here knows that.

you are a far leftie pretending to be something else.

you make me :lol::lol::lol:

Prove me wrong little fishy

Fingerboy...

You have obviously never read anything on the Supreme Court. They rule against the Government all the time. Many of their most famous cases have involved siding against the government

Really? Like when?

Roe v Wade
Miranda v Arizona
Brown v Board of Education

All cases where the courts sided with the people over the Government

Those cases increased the power of the federal government, especially Brown v Board off Education. Do you think mass forced busing represents a decrease in the power of the federal government? The law obviously increased the power of the federal government with respect to state governments. It gave the federal government vast new powers over schooling in the states.

Miranda did not substantially impact the power of the federal government. Criminal law enforcement is generally a state function. Roe v Wade weakened the power of state governments to determine their own laws and thereby strengthened the power of the federal government.

You don't even pretend. You haven't made a single post that isn't die-hard left-wing right down the line.

The court decided in favor of expanding the powers of the federal government. It ruled against the rights of state governments. In other words, it ruled against the rights of people to set their own laws locally.

No banana.

a tax deduction is not a subsidy. A subsidy is a direct payment from the government. EIC is a subsidy.

Deductions targeted to reward specific people or mandate behaviors function the same as subsidies. Not sure why it matters what we call them.

They can, but 99% of deductions are for legitimate business expenses. Allowing a business owner to deduct the cost of his new jet skis from his company's income is obviously a scam, but deducting the cost of the company trucks is not. The former is prosecutable, however.

What if the business is a charter yacht?

Why should government be kept smaller, and restricted to only certain tasks?

Look at what it does exceptionally well. Like, next to nothing.

If that doesn't tell you why it should be kept smaller and restricted to only certain tasks, what would?

And yet we have the best government in the world. One that has been emulated around the world

The why are Dimocraps always trying to emulate Europeans socialist governments?

By having private business provide healthcare coverage by set rules?

I get it now

You only support tyranny at the STATE level

Thanks for straightening that out for us fingerboy

In finance, a subsidy is aid. A tax deduction is a form of indirect aid.

In that case, it is a subsidy to everyone who pays taxes because everyone gets to deduct expenses from their taxes. I guess that means that, in the big picture, you get to subsidize yourself.

Except we all know the real world doesn't work that way, which is why you sound so stupid for trying to argue unrealized tax revenues like it is a real thing.

A big box receives a sales tax subsidy to incentivise their moving to a certain town. In the deal, the big box keeps a part or all of the sales tax they collect. Where's the direct payment from the government?

I love my country and admire our Government. There is no other government in the world I would like to have

It is conservatives always planning war against the "evil" government

A US government that takes away constitutional rights by executive fiat is evil and should be replaced.

So which constitutional right has been taken from me?

a tax exemption is not a subsidy.

the right to decide what kind of health insurance you want, or even if you want any.

How is keeping the sales tax you collect a 'tax exemption'?

you are "exempt" from sending all sales taxes that you collect to the state. not really very complicated :eusa_whistle:

There are dozens of different plans, I've looked.

or even if you want any.

Sure, but what if you get cancer? I have to pay for your cancer treatment?

in some states there is one insurer with one or two plans, which state has "dozens" ?

the uninsured are covered by the rest of us, just like now. obamacare does not change that.
