Why would anyone think defund the police was a good idea?

To me it staggers the mind that ANYONE thought "defunding" the police was a good idea that had any chance of improving the behavior of local police forces in this country.

Why would anyone think this?
Because the folks who "think" that are lacking in grey matter.

WTF do you think defund means? It means taking from the police budget and allocating that money to other sources. Of course it's defunding.
Defunding means to prevent (a group or organization) from continuing to receive funds. It does mean reducing their budget. The leaders behind defunding the police wanted far more than just some police funds to hire community service people. They want the police gone, replaced by community service personnel. This was fucking insane but that's what they wanted.

Nope. Not al. Conflating things may feel smart, but It's not.

It wouldn't be one party.

In the Republican country it would be establishment vs constitutionalists. On the Democrat side it would be Socialists vs Communists. But the bottom line is that in our country, no Socialists, Communists, Liberals or Democrats would be allowed any power or vote.

I'm not sure if you're baiting me or you simply don't understand my proposal. I'm talking about two completely different countries here like the US and Mexico. At least on the right, nothing would make us happier than to never put up with liberal bullshit (like what's going on now) ever again. Let's just be rid of each other and everybody's happy.
I think I understand your proposal quite well. You are proposing two separate states, one democrat and one republican although I can't imagine either party supporting that.

Democracy can not survive in a one party state because the people do not have a choice. In such states, graft, corruption and inefficiency is far more of a problem than in multiparty states because in multiparty states the minority party is always attempting to expose the failings in the major party.

A second problem is that the public has no way of holding the party in power responsible for their performance because there is no alternative party.

Thirdly, in one party states the people always lose personal freedoms. The first freedom lost is political choice. Your only choice is what the party allows. Many freedoms such as gun ownership, gay marriage, abortion rights, attendance at public or private schools, and various types of religious freedoms would likely be lost depending on which country you live in. And your only recourse would likely be leaving the county because there is no alternative party to turn to.

Lastly, free enterprise always suffers in a one party state. When government makes ruling that favors one industry or enterprise over another there is no alternative party to turn to. This and other reasons are why free enterprise is so successful in countries that nurtures democracy.
