Women need birth control because "they can't control their libido"

Notice that any help you offer to any group republicans claim its because the helper think the helpee is "too stupid for *blank*"

Its just their way of excusing themselves for being asshole.

Essentially to use an example: People are at the bottom of a hole. Repubs are at the top with a ladder but wont give it using the excuse that if they help that is an indication of how weak or stupid they are...and they yell that over top of the cries for help coming from the bottom of the pit

uh huh and then theres the 'soft bigotry of low expectations':eusa_whistle:

whats that mean?

are you serious? :eusa_eh: or you pulling my chain:

He's saying that what the Democrats think. He;s not saying women can't control their libido.

I'm afraid that is exactly what he said

"If the Democrats want to insult women by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it," he said. "Let us take this discussion all across America because women are far more than the Democrats have played them to be."

you're apparently having trouble with comprehension and of course theres the old context thang... heres the quote.

Nah, they're just lying. Its all good though...it's for the children

Conditional upon what?

There's Huckabee creating a strawman that generally pisses off women.

The optics are terrible.

But heck..they probably go over well in your native land..the Czech Republic, right?
Public education <sigh>.

Conditional Sentences Type I, II und III (Conditional Sentences, If-Clauses)

And no, the Czech Republic is not my native land. People travel and sometimes move to other countries. Rather, your command of the English language might have led me to believe your native country was not the US, but then I am aware of the standard of American public education and the resulting dumbing down so many of my fellow countrymen.<sigh>

He's talking about women's birth control and libidoes.

Doesn't matter how "conditional sentences" play into that.

That's also the trouble with you folks. You never admit fault.

jesus christ dude, read the quote on conditionals sentences he posted and learn something, its an expressional clause, goddamn, stop focusing on his words to express it, theres more than enuff outrage for you in his point isn't there?

There's no outrage.

In fact..I find it pretty amusing. This is a meme that Republicans go back to over and over.

Women and birth control. Women and abortion. Women and their libidos.

Surely, you've got to see how that's going to play out?

And it's like they can't help themselves.

You never hear them talking about the opposite, unless of course, they are discussing black families and black men walking out on them.

But they aren't saying that insurance shouldn't pay for Viagra, right?

They aren't calling Rush Limbaugh a "slut" for going to DR with illegal Viagra, after which, he joked about "doing things he couldn't talk about".

Seriously. Women are thinking human beings. They don't miss this stuff.

Conditional Sentences notwithstanding.

Because "full price" becomes less when there isn't a third party involved in the transaction.

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

People need to get this through their god damned heads. Forcing people to buy health insurance will not reduce the cost for anybody. Because insurance never reduces the cost of something. The insurance company always finds a way to turn a profit from you, or they will simply cut you off.

If Obama wanted to actually do something to help people, he would have had his supermajority Congress pass a law abolishing health insurance. Force the market to drop prices to something the market can afford out of pocket.

In the days before birth control, women had 5-6 babies

Yes, babies were expected anytime people had sex. And a lot of them died in infancy.

Some people call those "the good old days."

Not to mention 10% of women died in childbirth because they hadn't invented the Caesarian Section yet.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Incorrect. Modern C-section goes back to the 1880s, with variations dating to antiquity.

Exactly! It's OK for Uncle Sugar to pay for Viagra for MEN who can't control their Libido!

BTW, what happens when you give Viagra to a Republican?

They get taller.

What The Huck? A Brief History Of GOPers Saying Crazy Things About Women

SAHIL KAPUR – JANUARY 24, 2014, 6:00 AM EST1346
Mike Huckabee turned heads Thursday with a bizarre remark from right field about women and their "libidos."

Speaking at the Republican National Committee's winter meeting, Huckabee was pushing back on the Democratic talking point about a GOP "war on women" when he said Democrats tell women that "they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing them for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of government."

The former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate's comments sparked a wave of headlines, followed by migraines for Republican operatives who are all too familiar with men in their party saying dumb or offensive things that exacerbate the GOP's problems with women voters. It shined light on a recurring problem for Republicans: a resentment within the party's ranks toward non-procreative sex.

Here's a brief history.

'Legitimate Rape'

'Pregnancy From Rape Can Be 'Something That God Intended'

'Slut'

'Aspirin ... Between Their Knees'

'Todd Akin Was 'Partially Right'

'Some Girls Rape Easy'

oh wait, the condom lobby isn't as strong as the pharmaceutical lobbies, so i guess not.

We don't have to keep the misery going

After five frikken years the Community organize in Chief and his commie comrades in arms....we are living the misery

Rep on the way.

Although the miser won't keep going.

Larry Sabato is now saying that there is chance the GOP will take the senate.

At this early stage, the combination of these three factors suggests a good election year for the GOP. The president is a Democrat and his approval is weak. The economy may be improving, based on GDP growth (4.1 percent in the third quarter), but voters still don’t believe their personal economy, at least, has picked up much. Instead, the major national issue of the moment is Obamacare, which at this point is a loser for Democrats. The structure of the election in the House and Senate also bends in the GOP direction.

That's sure to lock up the women vote!

Women defeated the ERA.

You are so freaking stupid.

Okay, so nobody can name any Democrats who ever said or implied anything Huckabee accused them of...

...so in reality, all Huckabee did was invent an imaginary belief, falsely attach it to Democrats,

and go from there.

you guys should use your own yardstick there scooter...then again alinsky always said; 'make them live up to a/the benchmark '...:eusa_hand:

I am actually glad this came up and I will move these posts to the appropriate forum too in a minute, becasue timing is everything, here is a phrase that came from a grad student here in Bezerkeley, she told me she voted and likes obama but thinks the party treats woman like "walking Lister bags with a vagina"... no shit. she was upset she had to go back to grad school so soon, as she could not get a job in her field......see how that works? there actually are other things on their minds.

reminds me of that line LBJ had in one his speeches in the south as he was riffing on what the crowds always heard at election time ; " all you hear is niggra niggra niggra"..well, when it comes to the dems now, in a replay- same style, different era, all you hear is woman contraception, woman contraception, woman contraception......forget jobs, healthcare etc etc...

its all you got and if you buy it you deserve what you get, no job, shitty and lowered access to healthcare etc...but remember, the feds got that $10 bucks a month covered for your birth control  hope its worth it..

He didn't accuse them of saying anything.
Surprise, another spastic lie from an ideologue, meant to obfuscate the truth..which is that the left hates women, and markets abortion and federally funded birth control to them under the brand that women can't control themselves.

Do you have health insurance because you're too stupid to take care of your healthcare needs yourself?

Why would anyone consider this thread not proper for pol discussion?

As to huck's comments, it's more that gop males should simply never mention the word contraception. We are dead on this issue. A male goper mentioning the term is a no win situation.

Huckabee doesn't care about the fate of the GOP at the national level. All he cares about is being able to blow the dog whistle properly for the rightwing nuts that now fill his pockets.

Possibly, but I took his "comments" to be an attempt to place the gop's position that the govt has no role in creating universal access to contraception in a light that not only makes some public policy sense but also shows some moral/social responsibility ... and of course the gop fails miserably at this, which is why we largely only succeed in attracting the female votes of whites, and older whites at that.

oh wait, the condom lobby isn't as strong as the pharmaceutical lobbies, so i guess not.

The problem simply is that some women financially must choose between the needs of those they care for, or their own basic sustanance, or contraceptives. And, that not only harms them, but also increases the costs of healthcare and social services. And, you illustrate the gop's tone deaf absurdity in not "getting" it.
