Women need birth control because "they can't control their libido"

Notice that any help you offer to any group republicans claim its because the helper think the helpee is "too stupid for *blank*"

Its just their way of excusing themselves for being asshole.

Essentially to use an example: People are at the bottom of a hole. Repubs are at the top with a ladder but wont give it using the excuse that if they help that is an indication of how weak or stupid they are...and they yell that over top of the cries for help coming from the bottom of the pit

Huckabee is NOT a republican. Nor is he a conservative.
Huckabee is a Bible thumping loud mouth that wants so badly to be a conservative.
Without his tv show and blog, he's nothing. A flyspeck.

Huckabee: Dems say women need government to 'control their libido' - NBC Politics

"If the Democrats want to insult women by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system

What is the matter with you women? Can't keep your legs closed?

This is exceedingly offensive, and if the conservatives don't get why we say there is a war on women, this is a perfect example, perfect evidence that, on the conservative side, there is.

I swear to the risen christ we no longer want to win elections.

No one pays attention to Huckabee. He has zero influence on ther GOP.
This is another lame attempt by liberals to take a far right wing looney tunes and use him to paint all conservatives with a broad brush.
The best way to combat nonsense such as what we see from Mike Huckabee, is to marginalize him.

I swear, progressives are incapable of understanding the language.

Huckabee NEVER said "liberal men are saying" anything. Try to confine yourself to reality, and what was actually said. You're so in love with outrage that you alter reality to create situations that will allow you to engage in it.

Please give an example of conservatives "objectifying women". Because I can give you a half dozen examples, pulled from the pages of usmb and further abroad, of progressives objectifying women, blatantly.

That's not the entire quote. You lose.
BTW, I think Huckabee is a closet Bible thumper. That said, without tv and blog, he is selling shoes.
Finally, birth control pills should be paid for by the user. Not the insurance companies( policy holders) and not the taxpayers.
Unprotected sex is a CHOICE. When one makes a CHOICE, they are responsible for the consequences of their CHOICES...

Unprotected sex and the children that come from it often lead to more social problems or increase those we already have, which is everyone's business. You don't want women to use birth control, you don't want abortions, and you don't want to deal with the social problems that come from restricting birth control and abortions. You want a fantasy reality that doesn't exist and has never, since the dawn of civilization, existed.

again, that wasn't his point, his point is appealing to woman based on a one note platform and all that encompasses......did you watch the democratic nomination conv.?

The FACT that Huckabee is a flaming hypocrite and phoney is not the point?

Wow. How is he a flaming hypocrite again?

Did you miss the part where "Huckabee was for a bill on healthcare that provided contraceptives to women" - and now he's criticizing Obamacare for doing that....doesn't strike you as hypocritical? Flaming because he embellished what he thinks "Democrats think".

But that is where you are wrong. Huckabee is saying that "liberal men" are saying this, but they are not. Just because Liberal men are making sure that women are taken care of in the areas of health.....just like men are, when they get Viagra through their insurance. So maybe it is Huckabee that is saying it....because he once was all for insurance providing contraceptives, and now all of a sudden it's an insult to women?

Please provide a link where a Liberal has ever called women a nymphomaniac. Actually it was Rush Limbaugh that called a college student a slut, just because she was defending the idea that contraceptives ought to be provided by insurance. Excuse me, I have used contraceptives and I'm not a slut, so screw Limbaugh.

It only blows your mind because you have it all wrong.....it's Republicans that want to put the screws to women.....they are the ones that are saying let women pay for their own contraceptives, but let's provide men with Viagra.....please explain to me how you think that is fair.

You're stretching it a bit....he didn't just mention the word "woman" - he said that Liberals thought of women blah, blah, blah....so where's the link where a Liberal has ever said that women need the government to help them control their libido?

Most likely? That's not true. Most of the insurance policies that were cancelled were due to insurance companies not wanting to come up to speed with what was required with Obamacare...so they just cancelled. So, blame Republicans for that, because they want healthcare to remain the way it used to be....where people had policies that didn't cover squat.

No, you are agreeing with Huckabee in his saying that Liberal men say such and such, but neither him nor you have provided any evidence of it. I brought up Limbaugh, because he has done that, and I can give you links, if you don't believe me.

Yeah, but Huckabee is saying that liberal men are saying it, but where's the evidence.
Maybe he is the one that is saying it....he is the one saying that women can't control their libido, (are nymphomaniacs) because he used to be in favor of insurance covering contraceptives when he was governor. Was he saying that women were nymphomaniacs back then?

I know the definition of nymphomaniac, so you don't have to post it. What you need to post is a link where any Liberal man has ever called women nymphomaniacs....quit ignoring my request.

Yeah. Please go on telling yourself that. Just keep ignoring the fact that your gender is being repeatedly objectified by your own party. Then again, you could attempt to explain to me why liberals never speak out against liberal men who trash conservative women. Sarah Palin, Mia Love, Laura Ingrahm, S.E. Cupp... just to name a few.

The only ones that objectify women are conservatives. Akins telling us that there is "legitimate rape", Mourdock telling us that "God intended for women to get raped in order to conceive" and now Huckabee claiming that Liberals are saying that women can't control their libido, but showing no proof of any liberal saying that.

And don't deflect....nobody mentioned Sarah Palin, etc......plenty of conservatives do the same to Liberal/Democrat women, so stay on the topic of what we're discussing, Huckabee's false claim.

You're stretching it a bit....he didn't just mention the word "woman" - he said that Liberals thought of women blah, blah, blah....so where's the link where a Liberal has ever said that women need the government to help them control their libido?

Do Wendy Davis and Sandra Fluke ring a bell?

Most likely? That's not true. Most of the insurance policies that were cancelled were due to insurance companies not wanting to come up to speed with what was required with Obamacare...so they just cancelled. So, blame Republicans for that, because they want healthcare to remain the way it used to be....where people had policies that didn't cover squat.

"That's not true" is not a sufficient rebuttal. Please provide a non biased, non liberal or republican link that supports this claim. So, all of a sudden, 6.4 million people's plans magically "didn't cover squat"? Am I reading that correctly? Perhaps it was Obamacare after all, since it gets to determine what is and isn't a sufficient insurance plan.

I know the definition of nymphomaniac, so you don't have to post it. What you need to post is a link where any Liberal man has ever called women nymphomaniacs....quit ignoring my request.

I will ignore your request. It isn't pertinent. I never asserted anything of the sort. The fact they sit there and say women should have the right to have an abortion, and that taxpayers must pay for it and religious institutions should provide for it should be insulting to you. Basically, it should tell you women are nothing but nymphomaniacs to the Liberal establishment.

So, my conservative dad is merely married to his wife simply to objectify her? That's offensive, Mert. If Huckabee's claim is so untrue, why this averse reaction? You haven't once disproven it. You want to sit there and loft that type of insinuation, but ignore the fact that liberals only want to use government to regulate your own reproductive choices.

And don't deflect....nobody mentioned Sarah Palin, etc......plenty of conservatives do the same to Liberal/Democrat women, so stay on the topic of what we're discussing, Huckabee's false claim

False claim? I'd love to see you disprove that claim, without using liberal talking points. Your tu quoque argument notwithstanding. Ed Schultz, Matt Taibbi, Bill Maher, David Letterman all trashed conservative women.

No, he said if Democrats want to insult women, which is basically saying that is what they think or say? I already provided samples of Akin and Mourdock objectifying women......and now, someone that was once all for insurance companies providing contraceptives is now against it.....that's hypocritical.

The yearly cost of religious tax emptions is $71,000,000. Seventy-one BILLIION dollars.

Not all religions have tenets that specify no birth control. In fact, I think there is only one, so only one type of Christian, Catholics, can reasonably protest about this. Hypothetically, every taxpayer in the US can say they are against something their tax dollars are spent on. I am against war. A whole lot of my tax dollars go toward supporting wars. I don't get to say I shouldn't have to pay taxes because of that. No one gets to pick and choose what their taxes go for. As an American, you do get to vote, on specific laws and on the people who represent you. If the vote doesn't go in your favor, too bad. If the representatives you vote for don't do what you want, vote against them in the next election. That's how it works. Everybody knows that, of course, just reminding you. If you are not a Catholic, you have no religious stance to hold against birth control being paid by the State. If it is your personal feelings that are offended, you can vote for the representative who supports your same values. That's all you get to do. You don't get to say you shouldn't have to support something you don't agree with, like war.

Yes, those are the women that conservatives love to bash.

Yeah, sure, as soon as you provide me with the link I've been asking where a Liberal has ever said or thought that women can't control their libido.

Oh sure, it isn't pertinent because you can't back it up. Yeah, provide a link where Libs have ever suggested that taxpayers must pay for abortions, too...you just keep spewing stuff without backing it up. Republicans are the ones that are saying it, so apparently that is what Republicans think of women.

So, my conservative dad is merely married to his wife simply to objectify her? That's offensive, Mert.
Geez, now show me where I even mentioned your dad.

I can say the same thing to you, so you think my husband is merely married to me to objectify me? That's offensive, TK! See, we can both play that silly game.

Why don't you prove that they do. You want to agree with Huckabee on how Liberals think but you haven't provided a shred of evidence. And, conservatives want to demand vaginal ultrasounds on women that want to have a procedure done that is legal....and you don't think they are the ones that want to regulate women's reproductive choices?

False claim? I'd love to see you disprove that claim, without using liberal talking points. Your tu quoque argument notwithstanding. Ed Schultz, Matt Taibbi, Bill Maher, David Letterman all trashed conservative women.

His statement, which is what we are debating, didn't mention anything about religious institutions. Quit embellishing, you are the one that is way out of context. Here is what he said...now point out to me where he mentioned religious institutions.....

“And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it, let’s take that discussion all across America, because women are far more than Democrats have made them out to be.”

We don't love to bash them, they bring that on themselves! You asked for examples, I gave you examples.

Yeah, sure, as soon as you provide me with the link I've been asking where a Liberal has ever said or thought that women can't control their libido.

Impertinent. Request denied. Concession acknowledged.

Don't need to back it up. Simply by you saying that Democrats are "for women" and that Republicans simply want to "screw them over" provides me with all the proof I need. If they were "for women" Mert, they would be defending a woman's right to choose life, as well as abortion. That is what it means to be "Pro Choice." But alas, such a belief doesn't exist in the Democratic Party. You objectify women by thinking her only choice is choosing abortion.

Geez, now show me where I even mentioned your dad.

I can say the same thing to you, so you think my husband is merely married to me to objectify me? That's offensive, TK! See, we can both play that silly game.

You didn't. So clinched to the saddle on that high horse of yours, you failed to recognize that as an analogy. You make such a broad brush statement as "conservatives want to objectify women" I provided you an example of how you're wrong. You must think the entire Republican party consists of pimps and madams or something. This isn't a game. Not by a long shot.

I want you to disprove the notion that Democrats think women can't control their libido. Hey, don't let all that taxpayer money going to abortion clinics stop you. Just one question, how is it a "choice" when only one option is being touted over the other? I don't support vaginal ultrasounds, even I have limits. So your stereotype is bunk.

And now you are rambling... Rush Limbaugh and the entire Faux News have trashed Liberal women, so quit trying to make it like liberals do it but conservatives don't.

As far as Rush Limbaugh's comments on Fluke being a slut... I'm reminded of an old time saying "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck!"

Your tu quoque argument is useless. "They did it too!" doesn't absolve your party of any responsibility. :doubt:

Huckabee says Democrats believe women can't control their libidos. Huh? (+video) - CSMonitor.com

Shall I repeat myself? Selective quoting does not serve you well at all:

I think it’s time for Republicans to no longer accept listening to Democrats talk about a ‘War on Women.’ Because the fact is, the Republicans don’t have a war on women. They have a war for women – for them to be empowered, to be something other than victims of their gender.

Women I know are outraged that Democrats think that women are nothing more than helpless and hopeless creatures whose only goal in life is to have a government provide for their birth control medication. Women I know are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything anyone else can do.

Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. That’s not a war on them, it’s a war for them. And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control, because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of government, then so be it. Let’s take that discussion all across America, because women are far more than Democrats have made them to be. And women across America have to stand up and say, “Enough of that nonsense.”

-Former Governor Mike Huckabee

For the record, Democrats invented this "War on Women" shtick. When you use women as tool in a political argument, that my friends is how you most effectively objectify a woman.

I'd bet the farm that if men were the ones having the babies and expected to be the primary care givers in raising those children, there were be no restriction in any religion about birth control, and the discussion we are having here, the words of Huckabee and other men, would not reflect what he is now saying. They would be 110% for birth control, abortion, etc. So hypocritical.

This is a very stupid argument for Republicans to make. Huckabee is the LAST person anyone should listen to on female issues, as it was his guest that senator that stated women's bodies can turn off their reproductive system when raped--DA--DUH?

First of all--birth control pills are a prescription only pill--much like Viagra and all of the male enhancement drugs that are required to be paid for by the insurer, and have been for decades now.

Furthermore--the use of birth control pills in women--is NOT only to prevent pregnancy. Many women have to have them to control monthly cycles, otherwise they are miserable. Estrogen which is what birth control pills are--are very good for women's BONES. In fact, I know elderly women well past menopause who's doctor's still prescribe birth control pills to them--just to keep their bones healthy--so they don't end up with brittle bone disease known as Osteoporosis.

So what's the freakin problem? It takes two to tango--and what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Huckabee and his IGNORANT comrades are how the war on women gets started and how Republicans LOSE elections, just put that dumb ass on ignore.
