Rally rebuts Ala. lawmakers' claim about black adoptions
" A black Alabama lawmaker challenged state residents to show him "a whole bunch of whites" who have adopted black children.
On Wednesday, more than 100 people complied, rallying on the steps of the Alabama State House with photos of families with children of different races. Many people brought living proof in their own families."
"The discord began March 4 when state Rep. Alvin Holmes, a Democrat from Montgomery, made racial comments during debate about an abortion bill, saying that while an overwhelming majority of white lawmakers are against abortion, they would make their daughters get an abortion if the women were carrying black men's babies. He also contended that whites would not adopt black children."
