You Don't Own Me

So, grump, what do you gain if we maintain a population of sexually active, non-childbearing women, and kill their infants?

Was this even answered? If so, I missed it.

No, but then she's off saying that Bush v. Gore was "judicial activism," so we aren't dealing with a sharp, legal mind here.

Rosie O'Jillian is a mindless, partisan hack, who pretends to be a lawyer on the interwebz, but in fact has not so much as a hint of a clue as to how our legal system works.

You don't have a clue. You just one of these "If I shout loud enough, people will hear me and know how wise and full of wisdom I am".

Er, no. You're just another partisan hack on a messageboard...

So you don't have a reason?

Of course you don't.

We gain a less populated world. In some parts of our planet that is a good thing. In others, not so good. Shrug....

at the end of the day if a child bearing woman doesn't want to have children, that is her call. And if she wants to have sex for fun, that is also her call.

And if she aborts a foetus (not an infant as you disingenuously say), then that is also her and her partner's call.

Life is full of choices and we all have to live with the ones we make...

Wasn't that a Supreme Court thang?

It's not like Republicans will snap their fingers and *poof* it's gone.

Relax.

really? two rightie justices won't overturn roe?

coulda fooled me.

the GOP has been using our courts to pay back the religious right for their support since reagan.

So Jillian, you are down for claiming Roe decision as 'good law?'

I haven't found anything to indicate that Romney would spend time trying to overthrow Roe v. Wade. Even Bill Clinton said that abortion should be legal but rare. The dirty little secret is that liberal men have the most to gain by keeping the abortion mill running at full tilt. They are absolved of responsibility while the woman has to carry around the guilt for the rest of her life.

The Democratic establishment wanted to create the same fervor and electorate response as gun bans do for the right.

Abortion and contraception is that topic they hope will be a rallying cry. I am not certain there is a large body of one issue voters w/ abortion. 2nd Amendment there are millions of one issue voters.

There is now way, no how, health care should cover birth control...no way at all..

i've had a prescription for birth control my whole life... for medical reasons. why shouldn't my insurance policy cover that.

If you have had to take birth control your whole life, that is a pre-existing condition.

Health insurance policies do cover birth control, if you pay for that option. Just like my home insurance will cover floods, if I pay for that option.

If my house was flooded before I asked for flood protection, they would not pay for the damage. Pre-existing condition.

policies cover viagra. why would we not as a society want birth control to be affordable?

Private insurance pays for viagra if you bought that option.

Medicare does not cover viagra.

Also, birth control is for women who are able to give birth. Viagra is for older people. You will not need birth control when you are over 50.

I agree with Jillian on this one. If a birth control prescription serves a dual purpose, i.e. personal health and pregnancy prevention, it should be paid for by the insurance company. In fact, if it only is for birth control, it should be paid for by insurance. Insurance companies do pay for birth control pills do they not?

I suggest that even a Catholic employer would make an exception for you with the proper coding on the diagnosis by your Doctor.

I do think men should buy their own Viagra. But, since a prescription is required to buy it, whatever!

Relax.
What do you suppose controls the Supreme Court? The Constitution?

Ref: The appointment of George W. Bush as President and the Citizens United ruling.

It is. It can only be overturned by the amendment being amended......

Roe vs Wade was not an amendment last time I looked....

It isn't even based on the constitution.

I'm not going to go into the why's and where for's on this....my point is, they are two different scenarios.

You are right, there are all sorts of restrictions on the 2nd Amendment, but God forbid anyone try to make a few on abortion.
