$10.10. A killer for the rich.

1% of working americans make minimum wage and most of those are part time teenagers flipping burgers

this is a non-issue.

So you support the raising of minimum wage then?

Of course not, its meaningless. Its a dem/lib "emotion" issue that has no real world implications. part time teenagers are not supporting families, they are getting some real world work experience.

My point precisely.

The parasites and the socialists see it as another welfare benefit.

The fact that you did not try explain how those on a fixed income or the poor can afford to pay for additional expenses tells me that you are another graduate from the Karl Marx School of Business.

.

The fact that you haven't tried to explain how raising someones minimum wage will actually hurt them tells us that you're the idiot we can all clearly see you are.

Shouldn't need to explain it to you. It should be common sense. Raising the minimum wage increases the cost of everything. How will those people be able to afford it after inflation?

FALSE! Raising MW has no effect on prices. (generally)

Why did Obama ask for a $10.10 minimum wage?

Because he knows than Americans don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. As victims of government "education" they do not understand the economic ramifications of such a move.

For 10 years, I owned my own business, and my ex-wife owned another business of her own. For 3 years, I taught this subject (Microeconomics) in 4 colleges of the City University of New York. So I'll be the teacher. You be the student. So now I'm calling on you. What are these alleged "economic ramifications" that you speak of ?

That Big Mac might cost him another quarter.

So what if I am?

Then you are conflicted by interest.

You want to support 10 people, drive a Rolls Royce , use a kilo of cocaine per week, and vacation in the French Riviera while making 7 bucks an hour.

.

.

Right. And that's why I'll continue to work my minimum wage dishwashing job and you'll support me through my food stamps and medicaid because I can't afford those things on my salary.

but you have a computer, an ISP, probably an Iphone, car, flat screen TV, beer. Sure, we all want more money, why not show the boss that you can be kitchen manager instead of dishwasher? move up, make more.

Why did Obama ask for a $10.10 minimum wage? All this will do is take away the power of the government from the private sector and put in the hands of a bunch of senseless Americans. We as Americans must realize that the rich are the people that offer the true economic opportunities that this nation has to offer. The $10.10 minimum wage will bring the social classes together and there won't be any room for mobility. We must keep corporate America.

That's only for federal workers. Which I'm guessing is nearly none of them. How many federal workers do you know working for minimum wage?

And another thing.

10.10 hr x 40 hrs x 52 weeks = 21,008.00

A family of four poverty level is 23,550.00

Good post. The proposed raise is a joke. It goes to a still pitifully low wage, and affects almost nobody.

True, because employers find ways to get the jobs done with fewer people.

then lets make it $100/hr. then everyone can live high on the hog, right?

The real reason behind the increase in minimum wage is that many union contracts follow the minimum wage, so it doesn't just mean a raise for those making it, but also all of those union workers whose contracts stipulate an automatic increase when the minimum wage is increased. Another payoff to unions.

And the last thing we need in this country is a well paid workforce.
Yeah, companies exist just to give people jobs, right?

No, but when they do create jobs, those jobs (for 4o hours of work per week) should be able to reward the worker with a LIVING, and not less than that. 40 hours of work per week is a lot of time sacrificed from someone's free time.

LOL, it's almost as if you believe this.

You might be surprised how many people DO believe this myth,

No, they exist because the public has disposable income through well paying jobs and are willing to spend it. Henry Ford understood this, why can't you.

Do you work for a living?

If so, did you negotiate your terms of employment? Like salary, health benefits, vacation, sick leave etc...?

It's not the employers duty to make sure you earn a living wage, that duty falls upon you.

If the terms offered is not up to your standards then stay a Democrat and live off government cheese, But just stop whining.

But then depends on the JOB and the value of such a job, skills, etc. Minimum wage jobs were NEVER meant to be a living wage, but an ENTRY LEVEL wage. Want to get paid more? Excel at it, educate yourself and work hard. You move up, don't you?

Funny how people KNOW the price of everything but the VALUE of nothing.

No, they exist because they provide a product or service that other people want and will pay for.

It should be FREE MARKET!!! NO minimum wage.

If McDonalds can find people willing to flip burgers for $1 and hour, then so be it, THAT is what their labor is worth.

Im tired if all these left wing fags saying labor is worth more than what the market SAYS its worth.

If you stock shelves at Costco, and Costco can get someone to do it just as well for $3 an hour, then THAT is what your labor is worth. Get over it or get another job.

It's not a matter of "worth". This isn't an algebra equation. It is a TRADE of labor for monetary payment, and should be a FAIR exchange. THAT is what should be the basis of it, not a FREE MARKET. Saying the we should all be slave to a free 100% unregulated market, is like saying we shouldn't take action with the onset of a hurricane, but should instead just let it do it's thing, unrestricted.

You may also note that the extreme view you present is not much held by the American people, who overwhelmingly support raising the minimum wage (which is helpful to business as well as workers)

Yep. Don't like the wage? Go elsewhere, and GOOD LUCK in this economy that has been sabotaged, and on purpose.

I believe DoItMyself is right, it is about worth.

It's about what is it worth to you and what is it worth to the company you work for.

Explain what is fair. Which is a very subjective word. IMO

What is fair to you, may not be fair in the eyes of your employer.

The minimum wage has been raised many times since it's inception.

And yet somehow, we've managed to survive.

We managed to survive by eliminating minimum wage jobs. As Bill Gates attempted to point out, a rise in the minimum wage advances automation. What happened to the kid who used to gas up your car and wash your windshield? You have a neato gas pump that you use yourself and wash your own windshield. For every hand car wash there are five drive through car washes. The manned assembly line has been replaced by robots overseen by one guy. Fast food places are being replaced by fast casual places. Raising the minimum wage makes hiring someone to work for minimum wage very unattractive.

While increasing SALES$$$$ dramatically. And the higher the MW increase, the higher the SALES$$$ increase. And there are many more customers than there are employees.
