They control freaking nothing. Americans have the freedom to obtain information from sources that were not available when Cronkite and liberals controlled the media less than a half century ago and liberals continue to whine about Fox. Corporations are us and big government ain't your friend. Investments in corporations keep pension funds solvent. The worst case scenario is when fascist left wingers gain control of goods and services and tell us that big government is your friend and benefactor. .

I fear the extremes in this country. Your post makes good sense.

The only place for the government is to keep it fair.

Actually, this should be frightening to most people.

As it stands now, we have corporations that are richer than most nations. Where does it end?

Right? The reaction from conservatives here is utterly bizarre. Are conservatives that brain dead and jaded that they don't see the inherent problems with monopolies, lack of competition and vast amount of power in only a small number of hands? :cuckoo:

Some of them are, sure. But those who get most of the flack for their presumed inclination to cater to corporations are getting a bum rap. Libertarians favor a government that stays out of economic matters precisely because it leads to these dysfunctions. If only mainstream liberals could come to the same realization, to finally understand that more government intervention in the economy leads to more of the problems listed above - then maybe we could turn things around. As it is, we're just fueling the fire.
