In regards to the world being with us, the simple fact is that Russia has little international support for it's activities in Syria and the US has support from a long list of nations, including many in the area and the neighbors to the situation. These include almost all the countries with direct borders with Syria.

Is it about control? In my view it's about opportunity and life style. The more people like their life style, the less likely they're going to be extremist. There's no wonder most extremism comes from poor countries.
