2 Texas high school football players who tackled ref suspended

I disagree they should have charges filed against them, but they should be kicked off the team for good and I think a 10 day suspension from school is appropriate.
This is a criminal act. A premeditated criminal act..
Now, a little creative punishment...
Instead of jail..
In exchange for a misdemeanor simple assault on their record, these two knuckleheads...Lose all athletic playing privileges in the state of Texas for the remainder of their high school tenure. For this school year they surrender varsity letters......
Now, for the remainder of the Texas High School football season, these two dingbats get to spend their weekends cutting the referee's grass, then they can wash police cars and then spend the rest of their day cleaning up trash and dead animals from the city roadways...

If the man ended up injured I would agree with you, but he didn't. It is not a criminal act.
if two guys knocked your father or grandfather down .....but he wasn't "injured", you'd be ok with that?

We already criminalize and imprison people for far too many things in the so called "Land of the Free." We don't need to involve the authorities in the antics of a high school football game. The school is perfectly capable of doling out the proper punishment.
So as long as I don't hurt any women in the process, it's cool if I rape them? Explain your silly position. It makes no sense at all.

The latest news, of course, is that the players are trying to get out of trouble by claiming the ref had made racist remarks (that apparently, so far, they were the only ones to hear). EVEN if the ref had done so, guess what, you thugs? You are still accountable for your actions...that still give you no justifiable reason to attack someone!
The Left truly believes that the N word justifies violence.

If the ref decides to press charges, they're going to jail. And he should.

Says the nazi who kills cats. The players need a time in jail.

Have you all figured out how to blame Obama for it yet?

No, but the OP blames it on Black Lives Matter...of course!

No I don't. I said they think BLM matters.

I blame it on the parents and the kids themselves

How do you know what they think?

Lets see. Their behavior indicates they do

-Geaux

Just admit you are lying again. Your constant lies probably seem cute to you and other crazy right wingers, but it's the reason you are known as crazy right wingers. How can integrity mean so little to you?

Here's a hint where your opinion stands. Just behind BLM which is just a RCH above nothing

Dig it

I saw the video tonight. They blindsided him so hard his hat flew off. They could have killed him and they deserve to be arrested at least for assault but maybe even attempted murder.

They should be kicked off the team and charged with assault.

Assault and battery, probably assault with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy. Throw the book at them--no plea bargains, go for maximum sentences on all charges.

It's clearly battery. And the two criminal thugs used a variation of the the knockout game with their blindsided attacks. Real tough boys they are.

Or, and we should note how incredibly stupid these boys are too. In this day in age God only knows how many fans' phones were busy recording their actions in addition to at least one videographer per team recording the game action. Probably have more angles than an NFL replay for the authorities to view.

The ref has spoken and is looking into pursuing legal action against the teens. he has categorically DENIED using a racial slur.
Blindsided Texas Football Ref Denies Using Racial Slurs

Lets see who to believe? Two teens that viciously ambushed from behind an unprotected man or a man with 14 years experience that HAS NEVER been accused by ANYONE of ever doing that and not one witness to the supposed event this time? Two teens egged on by an assistant coach to get even for some perceived bad call earlier? We know who the black people will believe because they are racist. I will go with the fact the man has NEVER done that before, has no history of doing it and was targeted by these teens.

Well, that sounds racist, too.

But . . . on the face of it, keep the teens suspended from school and off the team, and hopefully to be arrested. I hope UIL when it meet 12 days from now, suspends John Jay's football program for the year.

Yeah, sorry, I am not buying for a hot second this referee used any racial slurs. They are lying in hopes of not getting into any further trouble.

There is no real disagreement here about this issue. Everyone agrees that the two players were in the wrong and should be punished. Some feel criminal charges may be appropriate. This was a nasty act....complete consensus.

However......everyone has allowed the piece of shit bigot OP to turn this into a BLM issue in ANOTHER weird attempt to draw political lines around an unpolitical event. Why is that? Are you afraid to hurt the asshole's feelings?

As a 15 year old pitching in Legion ball.....I once told my catcher to intentionally miss the ball so the ump....who I thought was being an asshole.....would catch a fastball around his groin area. We both got booted from that game and the next. Kids do stupid things sometimes.......and it is almost never related to political matters. Dickhead.
Actually, most of the thread was ignoring that reference entirely.

Then you needed to take this to center stage.

Of course they are playing the racist card. Of course....

Couple of thugs who think BLM is a legit group.

These kind of kids need an ass whooping. Their parents too

MARBLE FALLS, Texas -- Two high school football players who appear to have deliberately tackled a referee during a game Friday night have been suspended from school and the team, school district officials told CBS San Antonio affiliate KENS-TV.

One of the John Jay High School players is seen on video running into the back of the referee as he watched a play, and the other dove into the official. Both took running starts.

It happened in Marble Falls, Texas during a 15-9 win by the home team.

The Northside Independent School District in San Antonio will look into what happened leading up to the play, including potential derogatory racial comments made toward members of Jay's football team, a district official told the station.

"This is disturbing," Northside spokesperson Pascual Gonzalez said as part of the district's official statement. "It is not the sportsmanlike behavior that we teach our students. We are cooperating fully with the University Interscholastic League with this investigation."

Video shows the referee's head snapping back when he is leveled. The other player then piles on.

Just read this and was about to start a thread.
Clearly,. the race thing was an agreement or really a conspiracy between the two hopefully former football players. More than likely, the two players agreed "if we get any shit for this, we'll just say he called us ( n*****s)...."
It is painfully obvious that the assistant coach put them up to the battery.

Why is it 'painfully obvious.'

?

Yes it is.

Just because they failed to permanently injure him (as he certainly was beat up and bruised) doe not mean that what they did was not criminal. They clearly assaulted that man and that should be illegal in any free nation.

Do you honestly contend that such an act should be perfectly legal as long as no major damage is done?

Agree....just because you are wearing a uniform does not justify an assault

Especially blindsiding a ref. If you did that in a bar, you would be arrested

The assistant coach was quoted as saying that the official "needed to pay" for the bad calls against his team...Figure it out.....
