Many have no criminal record before becoming mass killers. Why do you choose to well arm mass killers?

The few mass murders all have a record of either mental illness or links to radical Islam.

However, the greatest numbers of annual deaths by "high capacity magazines", isn't terrorists or nutjobs, but by criminals killing other criminals (and occasionally innocent bystanders). Why are you focusing on a relatively few incidents, no matter how tragic or spectacular instead of the thousands of young men being killed by other young men in certain parts of the US?

Had the early framers of the Constitution embraced a standing army during times of peace, then there would be no need for a regulated militia, and thus no need for the 2nd Amendment.

There will always be need for a militia.

The first and most critical need is to enforce the US Constitution on communist senators (like Diane Feinstein) and communist congressmen/women (like Nancy Pelosi).

The second is in case of imminent invasion such as right after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Yes, it could happen again. China has enough air power to reach the USA easily. And they could land their armies (plural) in Alaska and march to the US West Coast, same as the Japanese could have and should have after bombing Hawaii.

The third is for deputization purposes locally in case of a major crime incident of local invasion as from Mexico.

The fourth is in case of another really big world war such as the 1st or the 2nd where all troops are overseas and then there is a flank turning invasion of the home country (the US).

There are always lots of good reasons for having a militia. That's why militia law is still on the US Federal books.

Based on those we have never needed a militia. The national guard replaces any need for a militia.
