Acceptance - not being a doormat, not necessarily agreeing with or approving or forgiving anything - but a full recognition and receiving of the facts of reality, whatever they are, like them or not.

You can accept the facts while also trying to change them. For example, can you accept yourself as you are . . . others as they are . . . the world as it is . . . this moment as it is?

Acceptance can help bring insight, peace, and in fact more energy for improving things - even as you simultaneously recognize the limits of your influence. Then you can bring a whole heart to what can be changed without wasting your time fretting over things that are truly out of your control.

As a bone-deep long-time stubborn striver, this has been a very important practice for me personally: accept the limits of your influence.

What I'm talking about is the limits of influence.

Plenty of what happens in life is out of your control.

I don't think we're on opposite sides of this.
