"Active Shooter" video game lets you be school shooter

I remember back when i was kid that people said the same shit about music.
I listened to marilyn manson, gangsta rap and other music like that. Guess what?
Im 32 with a good job, great wife, great kids that need nothing and i will be completely debt free in three years and i never killed anyone. I also smoked pot since i was 16. Seems people like you guys were dead fucking wrong.
You are now those old people that you more than likely made fun of when you were kids. DrLove OldLady
At least i did. And still do because fear mongering is a cowards way out.

I ain't THAT much older than you TN. And no, I didn't laugh at people your age (or mine) when I was a kid.
As a point of clarification - No one is ever truly "debt free". Even if you have no outstanding loans .. you have a credit card I assume?
Cuz if not, you have no credit cards and you really only pay basic bills and cash for everything else - Your credit is gonna go to pot pretty quick. :)
I sure did.
"thats music is bad for you. You are going to turn to crack and shooting up crazy shit living in the street! Turn on George strait damnit!"
My parents never said that but many people did. Luckily, my parents werent emotional knee jerkers like you :)
My point was, i have a home, a truck and my toys, and they will paid off by the time im 40. For someone that smoked joints and listened to crazy music, thats a slap in the face to those that judged me.

There will always be NEW toys my friend.
Personally, I use 12-18 month interest free credit to buy mine even if I have the cash available.
And just so you know - I STILL smoke joints and listen to crazy music. :cool-45:
you just refuse to accept my point doncha? lol

No - I get your point. But it doesn't make this particular video game any more palatable.

Good lord, how sick is this shit ?!

Valve Criticized Over ‘Appalling’ School Shooting Game on Steam

One week after a student shot and killed 10 people in Santa Fe, Texas, digital video game storefront Steam and publisher Valve are being criticized for an upcoming game that lets the player kill civilians and cops in a school environment.

Active Shooter” comes out June 6 and calls itself a “dynamic S.W.A.T. simulator” where the player can be either a S.W.A.T. team member or the shooter. Developer Revived Games also plans to release a civilian survival mode where the player takes on the role of a civilian during a shooting.

A disclaimer on the game’s Steam page reads: “Please do not take any of this seriously. This is only meant to be the simulation and nothing else. If you feel like hurting someone or people around you, please seek help from local psychiatrists or dial 911 (or applicable). Thank you.”

The only way to stop a bad guy in a video game is to be a good guy in a video game. You should come out with a new video game where you are in school or work or the mall and a shooter comes in and you have to react. You are never the shooter.

Your score will be how fast you react. Your aim. How many bullets does it take you? How many people are killed. How many did you hit. And did you take the guy in alive? If you did you only get half the points. To win the game you have to walk up to the shooter and put one in his head to spare us the cost and suffering of a trial.

I'd play a game where the object was to defeat the school shooter...they're people that deserve death and plus - school-grounds are usually really cool looking in a video game for some reason.

GTA was fun as hell, I couldn't keep up with the stupid missions though so I sorta just freestyled it and beat the shit out of random Citizens walking by with either a baseball bat or a tire iron. :abgg2q.jpg:
i think we played the missions for a few times, just to be different. other than that, we'd cheat up a hell of a car and go on a rampage running over anyone we could and seeing how far we could fling people with helicopter blades. i also found out in GTA 5 that if you swim far enough out into the water and keep trying to swim to japan, the sharks eventually come out.

i miss my drinking days at times. :)

Read this you emotional dinosaurs
This game involves killing hookers, cops, dealing drugs, stealing, robbing, raping, gunning down entire areas of cities and all kinds of shit.
Probably the most popular game in history. Been around for decades.
ITS A VIDEO GAME THAT GETS PLAYED ON THE TV. RUN FOR THE GODDAMN HILLS!!

Oh no, my delicate sensibilities are frightened. lol

I think Id ask the teens still in school about it. My 18 yr old son walked in and I just asked him about it...he said "Hell No"....he loves all that stuff. Ive played games with him to see where his head was at, I even tried redirecting him to the Sims "build dont destroy" ...but it didnt last long lol.

what did you ask him?

Fine the shit out of them until their business goes belly up would make more sense. And never allow them a license for such smut again.

Why don’t we fine everything that anyone might find offensive?
You don't find School Shooter offensive? You don't find the reality it represents offensive? If not, what DO you find offensive?

I do find it offensive, that’s why I won’t ever play it.

Did GTA cause me to fuck hookers, and beat them to death? Of course not. I was doing that years before GTA existed. If a game causes you to shoot up a school then that gun belongs to your own head.

Its a damn video game, people.
If this is sooooo bad, why isnt EVERY game that kills people bad? What about movies? Comic books? STEPHEN KING!
Turn off your tv if you cant handle a little black box with led lights.
Every game that kills people IS bad. And the movies that legitimize and romanticize violence and shootings. I've never read Stephen King. Do his characters shoot a lot of people? Christine and the folks in The Shining didn't.

Christine was about a dude who mowed people down in his vehicle. The Shining was about a dude who tried to kill his wife and kid with an axe. King's most popular character is called "The Gunslinger". His whole thing is shooting people. Should we ban his books?

The meaning of this particular game is what puts it in a class by its self. Unless the maker's reason for creating it was to deter people from doing the actual real thing, in my opinion, it shouldn't have even crossed the maker's mind.

No it's not a price we pay for living in a free society. It is a symptom of a society losing control of its decency.
Amen to this. I miss the days when we were able to say, "Its a free country." Sadly when you really think about it, this country is no longer free when kids can't even go to school anymore without having to wonder if they are even going to make it home later on in the day. I feel for those who actually used school as an oasis because of what they don't have to look forward to when they get home.

God bless you two and them always!!!

Holly

Anyone involved in developing or distributing this game deserves a firing squad.

And the people who buy it need to be put in a registry so we can keep an eye on them.

Sick Sick SICK
(well not the firing squad--that would be hypocritical, wouldn't it?)

Of course it would and TN is right - I would never condone such a thing.

Merely venting
Of course not, Doc. I know that. I just knew with TN here that it would be coming.

The entire GTA series puts you into the role of a cop murdering criminal. There isn't even a middle ground. You have to play a cop murdering criminal. Should those games be banned?

Banning stuff accomplishes nothing.

This is a cultural issue, a MUCH heavier lift.
.

If you are able to play the game from the murderer's perspective, then to me, that only glamorizes such a horror. In my opinion, anyone who actually buys this game will only be incriminating themselves which is what the game makers are already doing with themselves by creating such a product.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

It's further desensitizes kids to this kind of violence.
We have lots of things that desensitizes some people to (this kind) of violence. I'm not saying it's right. But it is a price we pay for living in a free society. Every see any of the Saw movies?

"Now that ceaseless exposure has calloused us to the lewd and the vulgar, it is instructive to see what still seems wicked to us. What still slaps the clammy flab of our submissive consciousness hard enough to get our attention?"

Who said that, @Crusader Frank?

Did anyone say it should be banned?
:desk:
Well of course you did. Thats your favorite word lol
We ban child pornography because it is obscene. We ban ISIS recruitment videos because they encourage violence. Why can't we ban something as obscene and encouraging of violence as School Shooter?

We ban child pornography because it's illegal. WE don't ban ISIS recruitment videos. Some companies like Twitter choose to of their own free will. ISIS recruitment videos are perfectly legal under our 1st amendment rights. So is this game.

There is no cultural issue. Violent crimes have actually declined in the decades since video games have existed. Guess what? I can shoot a cop on GTA, but if I lopped a person's head off and threw it down a pyramid I'd probably go to jail. Why do people think our culture is in some sort of decline?
