They didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for the kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for the young girls to do.

And because they were basically on government subsidy – so now what do they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never, they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered are they were better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things? Or are they better off under government subsidy?

You know they didn’t get more freedom, uh they got less freedom – they got less family life, and their happiness -you could see it in their faces- they were not happy sitting on that concrete sidewalk. Down there they was probably growing their turnips – so that’s all government, that’s not freedom.

Now, let me talk about the Spanish people. You know I understand that they come over here against our constitution and cross our borders. But they’re here and they’re people – and I’ve worked side-by-side a lot of them.

Don’t tell me they don’t work, and don’t tell me they don’t pay taxes. And don’t tell me they don’t have better family structure than most of us white people. When you see those Mexican families, they’re together, they picnic together, they’re spending their time together, and I’ll tell you in my way of thinking they’re awful nice people.

And we need to have those people join us and be with us…. not, not come to our party.

I think he used very poor choice of words, If anyone reads all the comments in context, I don't believe he meant to come off they way he did.

Was he trying to advocate in a very poor manner given the scope of his words? Or was he really being a blatant racist?

It strikes me that what causes fatherless households is having sex outside of marriage and without birth control. Well, you wingnuts are against giving them the birth control.

I am a native american with three children that are half black and and half of my family is black and white and I 100% agreeable with Clive. Blacks were better off in slavery than under the present administration. Not that they should be back in slavery is not what he said. His explanation was lacking verbal use. What the f is wrong with being called a Negro? Under this administration Obama has done nothing to make life better for Negros, education and jobs and healthcare. Under slavery Negros has an unemployment rate of 99%, they had food and the family unite was no different that what some of under now. Fatherless kids exist today among blacks as it did under slavery. Emancipation did not free the Negro but further enslaved them. It open up jobs for poor white people whose jobs were taken by the Negros. He did not offend the blacks he offended the federal government. Negro cannot be used in today's language. What is the difference between picking cotton and picking lettuce? Abortion rate is a crime among black women. No jobs for 50% of Negros.
