There is a line from Dwight D. Eisenhower’s farewell speech to the nation in 1961 that plays on a loop in the back of my mind: “We face a hostile ideology -- global in scope, atheistic in character, ruthless in purpose, and insidious in method”. I was 14 when that speech appeared on a black and white TV. It warned of a military-industrial complex, but it characterizes the general direction the government has drifted in.
Thomas Sowell, a black American, wrote a book about a decade ago, Intellectuals and Society-I read it cover-to-cover after 10-hour work shifts in just three days. That book solidified my contempt of an educated aristocracy as a necessary and required foundation of a nation based on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The United States came into being as an escape from the tyranny of elite centralism. America is an experiment in democracy that flips a finger at the pretentiousness of a national nobility and it always has-at least until now.
Today we live in a world where education is indoctrination, news is propaganda, and justice swaddles itself in the clothing of a blind observer for the masses while it has eagle eyes for the forgiving specialness of political upper classes. If you and I lie under oath or are perceived to be less than truthful; we face harsh punishment and long prison time. The Clinton’s, and James Comey never lie-they have a “lack of candor” or are not questioned or seriously investigated.
Our current president was elected as an emergency measure to protect the United States as a constitutional republic. The odious and dangerous reaction of our corrupted government was to launch show trials and use the power of the purse to overthrow a valid election. The elite were on track to fundamentally change our country from American Exceptionalism to the global nightmare of “American Acceptionalism”.
Your president stood in the line of fire while your government fomented irrational attacks and generated propagandized, delusional hatred in the minds of brainwashed citizens. This is the fertile soil from which socialism sprouts. A lazy, self-loathing, self-entitled population is the stuff of revolutions against liberty. Nothing is free anywhere on Earth, especially freedom.
Your government has become the state; it will stop at nothing including the emergence of a Woodstock Warrior like communist Bernie Sanders. When your local newspaper endorses Sanders, save that issue. It’s the end.
