In an interview with ABC, Krivanek says that while she is happy for Griner, she is angry at the U.S. government for leaving her to languish in prison alone while they fought endlessly for the WBNA star. 'It feels like my my citizenship, my patriotism meant absolutely nothing. They might as well have just left me there. They completely threw out the fact that another U.S. citizen was going through suffering with no support. I'm angry at our government for leaving me there to rot. They said, "somebody is going to come to see you in the colony." Nobody ever came.'
