Americans Are More Afraid of Government Corruption than of Global Warming

Logic isn't your strong suit, is it hun?

It's a straightforward question. Does the object of fear matter? If you can't answer it, that would not be at all surprising.

Yes, the object of the fear matters. Not all fears are equal. Rational fears are based on real or plausible dangers. Irrational ones aren't. A healthy adults can tell the difference.

Thank you. I was thinking of that idiot woman who crashed her car - with her baby inside - because she saw a spider.

Only to irrational people who are disconnected from reality.

Perhaps you can find a safe space to hide in and watch puppy videos.
Fear is an irrational emotion, if you were not ruled entirely by it you would know that.Americans who have courage are disgusted by how easily you people are led around by dishonest people telling you scary stories.

Are you nuts? Fear is a perfectly healthy psychological response which evolved so that people can sense danger and protect themselves.
The fear response was not evolved for thinking, it was evolved for running away or fighting. In our modern world the fearful are the most easily fooled. In our modern world those who are trying to scare you are trying to control you. When one is ruled by courage they may achieve great things, when one is ruled by fear all they achieve is their subjugation.

Fear is the only emotion a baby is not born with.

Fear is learned.......

Not so. Startle a newborn and it will cry. That's a fear response.

That's not fear dumb ass, the kid is hungry or pooped in it's pants

Because you startled it? No. A newborn's response to a sudden or unfamiliar sound is to cry. That's a fear response.

OP- Fear of GOP corruption sure isn't dumb. See corrupt world depression and wars and Citizens United. Then you have the PHONY Dem scandals...all of them, dupes.

Buy more guns and ammo...

Which of your fears will that help?

That covers a few: fear of corrupt government, criminals, societal breakdown...
The way to make an impact on corrupt government is to work with your legislators to overthrow Citizens United.

Fear of criminals can be mitigated by an awareness of the true rate of crime in your area, not what the NRA and those home-security companies want you to believe.

As for societal breakdown, unless you believe Mad Max was a documentary...

Absolutely wrong on all accounts.

- Corrupt government doesn't respect a legislative process.
- Criminals don't care about the crime rate, they are the crime rate. Fear of criminals is mitigated by being able to defend oneself.
- Societal breakdown is one disaster a way, man-made or otherwise. Witness the looting and rampages in Ferguson and Baltimore. Considering how most cities have no more than a three day food supply, one major disaster can easily result in violent anarchy.

All of those are rooted in apathy, another negative emotion conservatives have in abundance. Since you do not like the political implications of actually dealing with these problems you people have solutions that usually involve simply trying to protect yourself and ignoring the plight of everyone else. When things are tough and the world really needs "All for one and one for all" A conservative says "Every man for himself."

So do you believe your entire government is corrupt, from D.C. down to your local mayor?

- Criminals don't care about the crime rate, they are the crime rate. Fear of criminals is mitigated by being able to defend oneself.

And one of the ways to defend yourself is to be aware of your surroundings. Believing you live in a high-crime area without any interest in learning whether you are or not is what some would consider an irrational fear.

- Societal breakdown is one disaster a way, man-made or otherwise. Witness the looting and rampages in Ferguson and Baltimore. Considering how most cities have no more than a three day food supply, one major disaster can easily result in violent anarchy.

In California, the citizens themselves are responsible for maintaining an earthquake kit with a 3-7-day supply of necessities. They don't rely on the government, and only a handful of them in the mountains and the deserts are prepper-hoarders.

Living 24/7 with the expectation that society will crumble around you at any time would also be considered an irrational fear.

Could you actually answer the charge that conservatives ignore problems when they don't like the solution? Climate change is a perfect example. You think getting off fossil fuel will negatively alter your lifestyle so to you it simply does not exist.
