Jefferson is referring to Nature’s God. He was a rational theist, deist, militant opponent of organized Christianity and the preacher class.
Yes I know. Jefferson was also from another, more ignorant time, when the Ontological parlor tricks of philosophers actually compelled and fooled the most educated people.

Those times are long gone.

I’m saying, the MAGA Trumpers, and white Christian nationalist are more ignorant than the 2 out of 10 who were Christians who fought the revolution for Jefferson & Madison, and the rest of the geniuses that designed this country based on the enlightenment much more do than Christianity.

America's Christian Heritage is indisputable. The second best-selling book in the American colonies was the New England Primer. Five million copies existed in America in 1776. At that time, there were only four million people in America. Many of its selections were drawn from the King James Bible. The New England Prime was the foundation of schooling that all children studied from at the time of our Founding.

Harvard's Rules and Precepts of 1636 tells us that all knowledge rests on the foundation of God and Jesus Christ. Harvard's original motto was Truth for Christ and the Church.

Princeton's founding statement of 1746 was Cursed is all Learning that is contrary to the Cross of Christ.

Coumbia university's seal of 1755 has the hebrew Tetragrammaton, YHVW (Jehovah) within a radiant triangle. The school's motto "In Lumine Tuo Videbimus Lumen" means "In thy light we shall see light" Psalms 36:9, arcs across the top.

In 1832 Gouverneur Morris said, “Religion is the only solid basis of good morals; therefore education should teach the precepts of religion, and the duties of man towards God.”

In 1790 Samuel Adams said, ""Let divines and philosophers, statesmen and patriots, unite their endeavors to renovate the age, by impressing the minds of men with the importance of educating their little boys and girls, of inculcating in the minds of youth the fear and love of the Deity...in short of leading them in the study and practice of the exalted virtues of the Christian system.“

In 1798 Benjamin Rush said, "In contemplating the political institutions of the United States, I lament that we waste so much time and money in punishing crimes, and take so little pains to prevent them. We profess to be republicans and yet we neglect the only means of establishing and perpetuating our republican forms of
government. That is, the universal education of our youth in the principles of Christianity by the means of the Bible.”

In 1836 Noah Webster said, “In my view, the Christian Religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, ought to be instructed...no truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian Religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.”

In 1835 Alexis de Tocqueville wrote in his book, Democracy in America, "Upon my arrival in the United States the religious aspect of the country was the first thing that struck my attention; and the longer I stayed there, the more I perceived the great political consequences resulting from this new state of things. In France I had almost always seen the spirit of religion and the spirit of freedom marching in opposite directions. But in America I found they were intimately united and that they reigned in common over the same country. Religion in America...must be regarded as the foremost of the political institutions of that country; for if it does not impart a taste for freedom, it facilitates the use of it. Indeed, it is in this same point of view that the inhabitants of the United States themselves look upon religious belief. I do not know whether all Americans have a sincere faith in their religion -- for who can search the human heart? But I am certain that they hold it to be indispensable to the maintenance of republican institutions. This opinion is not peculiar to a class of citizens or a party, but it belongs to the whole nation and to every rank of society. In the United States, the sovereign authority is religious...there is no country in the world where the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America, and there can be no greater proof of its utility and of its conformity to human nature than that its influence is powerfully felt over the most enlightened and free nation of the earth. In the United States, the influence of religion is not confined to the manners, but it extends to the intelligence of the people...

Christianity, therefore, reigns without obstacle, by universal consent...

I sought for the key to the greatness and genius of America in her harbors...; in her fertile fields and boundless forests; in her rich mines and vast world commerce; in her public school system and institutions of learning. I sought for it in her democratic Congress and in her matchless Constitution Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great. The safeguard of morality is religion, and morality is the best security of law as well as the surest pledge of freedom. The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other Christianity is the companion of liberty in all its conflicts -- the cradle of its infancy, and the divine source of its claims."

Democracy in America - Wikipedia

One Nation Under God: Alexis de Tocqueville
American was founded specifically for freedom of religion.

We are not a christian nation.

Early Colonial era

Because the Spanish were the first Europeans to establish settlements on the mainland of North America, such as St. Augustine, Florida, in 1565, the earliest Christians in the territory which would eventually become the United States were Roman Catholics. However, the territory that would become the Thirteen Colonies in 1776 was largely populated by Protestants due to Protestant settlers seeking religious freedom from the Church of England (est. 1534). These settlers were primarily Puritans from East Anglia, especially just before the English Civil War (1641–1651); there were also some Anglicans and Catholics but these were far fewer in number. Because of the predominance of Protestants among those coming from England, the English colonies became almost entirely Protestant by the time of the American Revolution.[note 1]

Many of the British North American Colonies that joined in 1776 to form the United States of America were settled in the 17th century for religious purposes by men and women who, in the face of European persecution, refused to compromise passionately held religious convictions and risked the perilous crossing of the Atlantic to practice their religion as they believed the Scriptures commanded.

Example #1 of America's Christian Heritage

“The 1st charter of Virginia emphasizes the Christian character of the purpose of the expedition. Their task was defined “by the providence of Almighty God . . . . to the glory of His Divine Majesty, in propagating of the Christian religion to such people, as yet live in darkness and miserable ignorance of the true knowledge and worship of God.”

“First Charter of Virginia” (April 10, 1606), Documents of American History, ed. Henry Steele Commager, 6th ed. (New York: Appleton-Century-Crofts, 1958,page 8.

Leviticus 25:10 is inscribed in the Liberty Bell.

We need to be. I bet 99.9999% of the problems have in this country would be gone within a year.

Does it say Christian Nation? Or does it say Christian heritage?

then say that our Christian heritage led to the formation of a nation that is designed for all religions or no religion at all. And those who say that we were founded as a Christian nation are incorrect

American was founded specifically for freedom of religion.

We are not a christian nation.

What is the title of the thread? What does the OP state?

Does it say Christian Nation? Or does it say Christian heritage? Take the loss.

You very first post starts off with this Christian untruth.

America's Christian Heritage 170301 {post•1} ding Mar’17 Sachyz inserted Princeton founding Statement of 1746: “Cursed is all Learning that is contrary to the Cross of Christ. “ dvng 170301 Sachyz00001

Screw that Saint Ding. America was founded thirty years after that. Princeton grew up. Still welcomes Christians. But they welcome much more.

Religious Life at Princeton

A place for all — this sentiment is behind all that we do at Princeton to support the religious and secular communities on campus. Princeton is nonsectarian, and religious life here is characterized by its depth and diversity, reflecting our community of people from around the world.

I wish you couid grow up intellectually but much more important- spiritually.

Example #2 of America's Christian Heritage

Rev. Robert Hunt was chaplain of the expedition. Captain John Smith described him as “an honest, religious, and courageous Divine,” Captain Smith also wrote “The nine and twentieth day, (April 29, 1607) we set up a cross at Chesepeake Bay and named that place Cape Henry,” Rev. Robert Hunt led them in a service there. They settled in Jamestown and on May 13, 1607 began regular church services. Also, Rev Hunt led the group in daily prayer morning and evening and preached twice each Sunday. On the plaque on a shrine that memorializes him it is stated that “He planted the 1st Protestant (Anglican) church in America, and laid down his life in the foundation of Virginia.”

Example #3 of America's Christian Heritage

B. F. Morris in his work The Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States concluded, “The Christian religion was the underlying basis and the pervading element of all the social and civil institutions of the Virginia colony.”

Sorry, Saint Ding. I don’t know what you mean by underlying, but only two out of ten
residents of the original 13 colonies were active conventional churchgoing Christians.

This population elected Thomas Jefferson to a second term when his opponents were accusing him of being an atheist he was coming to take away their Bibles. That kind of confirms for me that this data is correct.

Frauds Tucker and Laura distance from T 201130 {post•135} NotfooledbyW Churching of America :

This also tells me that the state run Anglican and congregational churches etc were all but dead by the time the declaration was sent to King George.

I have spent my lifetime living where there’s plenty of underlying Christian activities going on, but it has very little to do with my life and the life of my kids and friends and family.

You are really not making much of a point here except that you’re fond of the pre-revolutionary era state run religion in the colonies when opposition to the Catholic Church was very strong. So you are being weird as a Catholic apologist.

Example #4 of America's Christian Heritage

“In 1609, because of persecution, a group of Christians left their village in Scrooby, England . . . “ and “led by their pastor, John Robinson this group settled in Leyden, Holland where they formed an English Separatist Church. After a few years . . . they wanted to live in a society that was thoroughly founded on the Bible, not
simply a place where they would have the freedom to go to the church of their choice. These Separatists (Pilgrims), decided to go to the New World. . . . In September of 1620 the, Pilgrims set sail from Plymouth, England, in a ship named the Mayflower. After more than two months at sea, the Mayflower reached American
shore. . .”
