Amid sequester and scandal in Washington, the White House announced Friday that the president and first lady will be hosting another concert as part of their “In Performance at the White House” series later this month.

The event will be held in the East Room of the White House and honor singer and songwriter Carole King, who will be awarded the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. King will be the first woman to receive the award, the White House noted in their announcement.

The program — to be streamed on the White House website and broadcast on PBS stations the evening of May 28 — will also feature performances by Gloria Estefan, Billy Joel, Jesse McCartney, Emeli Sandé, James Taylor, Trisha Yearwood and King herself.

You little fucking people can eat cake, the King and Queen want to party.

The Obama's do like to party.
I guess the devastating cut backs caused by the sequester hasn't affected party time at the WH...

And you know they just scheduled this whole thing this last week. It was last Friday, to be exact. After the IRS story broke.

BTW, those three IRS people being axed are going the way of Scooter Libby, except without nearly as much of a payoff. But the RNC will make sure they are taken care of.

And the deal with Associated Press....DOJ could do what they did because Bush's Patriot Act gave them the right. So there's really no scandals anywhere. It's just more jockeying for re-election control by both sides. But it was fun watching Paul Ryan get all righteous today on the live broadcast of the investigative hearing. He's the biggest whore on the Hill.

scandals ? - no, just Republicans making up stories.
Party On ....

Nicely put. Sounds like a good time. Hope I'm able to watch it. I wonder if I should ask some of my unemployed colleagues on the right to record it for me; they can make a few dimes and won't be so damn bitter all the time.

And if the administration weren’t following through with such events, you’d complain about that, too.

This lose/lose, Obama does nothing right theme contrived by the right is one of many reasons republicans have zero credibility.

The irony is there are legitimate issues to be critical of the administration, lost in the din of partisan demagoguery and hyperbole, the OP one of many examples.

Obama should have a star-studded confession instead by inviting the Pope, Billy Graham and other world religious leaders. After that have a star studded Special Prosecutors event and answer all questions.

Hey...lay off Obama! Being a closet dictator is hard work! He should be allowed to unwind and spend money on parties while a record number of Americans rely on food stamps to put food on their tables.

Really? Then you better let big name Dems like Max Baucus, Harry Reid and Charlie Rangel know that they are just "made up stories", because they are siding with the Republicans on this crap.

The left would be going nuts if a Republican president held an entertainment event in the WH while
complaining of spending cuts.

Hey when an Inspector General breaks the news that the IRS was completely out of line....

Some are about to be arrested.

It's a good day for all citizens both sides of the aisle.

At least these issues have truly flushed out the radicals on the board.

We've know for forever the Lakhotas, the Black Labels, the Francos, the Luddly types.

Others trying to play the game saying they were centrists have finally been flushed though.

Love it.

The death of four American citizens in Libya as this administration failed them, the IRS specifically targeting the enemies of your leaders empire, and the worlds most powerful news organization the AP being raped by the DOJ; this is not demagoguery nor hyperbole.

It's what you call the "real deal".

i believe you are wrong. you are speculating as to the response from a party you don't agree with. that said, you don't know the outcome and cannot pass off your opinion as fact.

given the above, i fail to see why this is an issue. presidents, throughout history, have continued to hold office, entertain etc....throughout any scandal, real or imagined.

this thread is much ado about nothing.
